What will I be doing?

The Instructional Designer serves as a training consultant and leverages their library experience to produce educational materials for a global customer base using a variety of different formats in order to educate customers how to best utilize Ex Libris products, drive product implementation and adoption, enhance learning outcomes and enable customers to realize greater workflow efficiencies.

In this position you will also

  • Develop online instructional curriculum by working closely with subject experts and key stakeholders to define core learning objectives for specific target audiences.

  • Design effective and engaging e-learning content that enhances comprehension and knowledge retention by utilizing instructional design best practices.

  • Interact and engage with subject matter experts and local managers to identify knowledge gaps and develop appropriate content for product education resources.

  • Prepare, facilitate and deliver library consulting and training for customers in the use of Ex Libris products online using real-time collaborative software (e.g. WebEx) and at our annual North American conference,

  • Communicate timely, post-training responses to customer concerns and questions, and escalates issues to technical support as required.

Qualified candidates must have

  • BA degree or MLS or MLIS from an American Library Association (or non-US equivalent) accredited school, or at least 3 years of working experience providing online training and customer support in a similar information services organization.

  • Experience in instructional or curriculum design, teaching educating and/or training others, especially in a technical context with adult learners.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to a rapidly changing, growing organization.

  • Self-starting, self-motivated team player able to work independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication - spoken, writing, listening.

  • Strong commitment to serving our customers with exceptional patience and tact.

  • Excellent understanding of the English Language - oral and written.

  • Ability to travel to client sites for training and consulting as required.

It would be great if you also had...

  • Experience with Storyline, Rise and/or WalkMe.

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems.

  • Familiarity and proficiency with integrated library systems and library technical services workflows.

Other important information about this position:

  • This position may be based out of the Ex Libris office located in Des Plaines, IL; ProQuest office in Ann Arbor, MI or may be conducive to full or partial remote work, subject to manager approval.

  • Occasional travel as needed; approximately 10% or less.

  • This position requires weekday attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours.

About the Unaccompanied Childrens Shelter The Unaccompanied Childrens Shelter is home to adolescent boys and girls through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). This program provides a safe setting for children during their first days in America until a permanent setting can be established for them. About the Bilingual Instructional Assistant Position The Bilingual Instructional Assistant for the Unaccompanied Childrens (UC) Shelter assists students individually, or in small groups, in meeting course expectations and improving academic and vocational skills. This position has close interaction with staff and students, and works under the direction of the teacher. The Instructional Assistant is a grant position related solely to the Unaccompanied Childrens Shelter as funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement and any successor funding. Essential Functions: * Assisting students in reviewing and completing assignments during class time; * Implementing classroom procedures and reinforcing students positive behavior; * Reinforcing organizational and note-taking skills; * Grading materials for immediate feedback; * Demonstrating use of the computer for drill and remediation, as well as for homework and classroom assignments; * Actively participates and assists in classroom instruction in cooperation with certified teacher; * Participates and contributes to in-service trainings and staff development opportunities; * Assisting and facilitating tutoring or one-on-one instructional time as required by student need under the direction and supervision of teacher; * Assisting crisis management up to and including physical restraints when appropriate; * Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience: * High School diploma or GED equivalency required; Bachelors Degree preferred; * Must have State Approved Paraprofessional License; * A minimum of 1-2 years experience in classroom/school setting. Skills/Knowledge: * Bilingual English/Spanish language competency required; * Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; * Basic computer proficiency including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; * Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines; * Skill in telephone etiquette; Physical Demands: * Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk and drive for extended periods; ability to walk up and down stairs; * Required to occasionally lift/move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of 40 pounds; * Must possess the ability to provide physical restraint for students threatening to harm themselves or others; * Must have the visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above. Environment and Scheduling: * Work is performed during school and vocational program days and hours; * Work is performed in classroom settings as well as in an administrative office settings; * Duties involve contact with students who may be traumatized.
