General Summary
The Instructional Designer III, under general supervision, leads the development and support for classroom, hybrid or online courses. Leads and manages the development of training for faculty and/or staff in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices. Manages and leads project work. Provides training and support to faculty and students on all instructional technologies, including but not limited to the WTAMU Learning Management System. Works daily to ensure that areas of Information Technology are in compliance with West Texas A&M University rules and procedures, as well as with the Texas A&M University System, PCI security standards, and/or other standards such as FERPA, copyright laws, and the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Texas Administrative Codes (TAC) 202.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses.
Consults and leads faculty and/or staff with instructional design.
Manages course design and development projects. Administers and maintains online development courses/resources.
Provides technical support and troubleshooting for faculty and students in the WTAMU Learning Management System as well as other instructional technologies.
Designs online modules. Leads and manages the course review process.
Plans, develops, and provides guidance for faculty and/or staff on instructional strategies and course design.
Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications.
Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
Oversees and manages the planning and coordinating materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team.
Leads faculty and /or staff through the design process and makes key design recommendations. Researches, reviews, and recommends software, multimedia applications, and web-based educational technologies.
Performs usability studies and creates reports
Creates training materials and conducts training sessions for faculty and/or students including, but not limited to: self-help documents, online tutorials, instructional videos and other training modalities to assist faculty with the use of course management tools, instructional design concepts and other instructional technologies.
Works daily to ensure that areas of the Department of Academic Technology are in compliance with West Texas A&M University rules and procedures, as well as with the Texas A&M University System, PCI security standards, and/or other standards such as FERPA, copyright laws, accessibility regulations and the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Texas Administrative Codes (TAC) 202.

Necessary Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of related experience in instructional design
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of online course design principles and practices. Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Six (6) years of related experience
Knowledge of adult learning theories, assessment, and evaluation in course design and development in content areas.
Demonstrated experience in course development and training.
Working knowledge of authoring software, Adobe CS and Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to design and develop workshops and supporting documentation and tutorials.
Demonstrated proficiency in working within a learning management system in the role of developer, faculty and/or technical support.
Must possess excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
Must possess the ability to establish goals, meet deadlines, organize workflow and projects.
Must possess effective teamwork, organizational and time management skills.
