Job Description:
Summary
The Instructional Designer II collaborates across Iowa State Online and Course Design and Quality teams within the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) to effectively design, develop and support online professional development courses at the university.
Responsibilities
Partners with instructors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), professional organizations, and corporations on creating high-quality designed and developed courses for online courses, programs, and certificate programs.
Participates in course auditing and quality design assurance in online environments.
Assists instructors and SMEs in the designing and development of online courses with current systems and technologies available at Iowa State Online
Provides guidance to instructors and SMEs that meet instructional design standards and follow established procedures.
Works in collaboration with academic units across campus.
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience with online course design in a university or corporate setting
Strong attention to detail
A highly service-oriented nature to work with various SMEs
Effective time management and organizational skills
Level Guidelines
Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students
