The Instructional Designer provides leadership and support to faculty in planning and implementing effective course design, incorporating instructional standards in the development of courses and curricula, and in using technology to deliver courses and programs. The Instructional Designer supports faculty and staff in the development of online and hybrid courses and the utilization of the College's learning management system. In addition, the Instructional Designer supports course development efforts in all credit and non-credit areas of the college and reports to the Director of Educational Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • As an educational technology strategist, conduct high-level analysis and serve as an active contributor and decision maker.

  • Lead faculty, in collaboration with academic leadership, to review program/course outcomes, competencies, and curriculum for all course modalities.

  • Plan, design, and develop varying instructional elements with faculty and staff for target audience/market.

  • Design course components in learning management system and assure courses meet or exceed institutional standards including navigation and technical functionality; proofreading and editing.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders in designing instructional content in accordance with institutionally determined learning models and high impact practices.

  • Provide on-going mentoring and support of instructional design to staff, faculty, and academic leadership.

  • Collaborate with professional development team to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the college.

  • Facilitate the Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) Curriculum and Assessment course and other related professional development.

  • Develop and conduct training for faculty and staff on instructional design, educational technology, learning theories, and student support mechanisms.

  • Serve as the college's Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator.

  • Facilitate the college's instructional design process and collaborate with academic leadership to implement that process.

  • Design and create multimedia assets with a variety of educational technology tools.

  • Manage projects and grant requirements including scope, timeline, and complete deliverables by deadline.

  • Attend conferences/professional development to keep current with educational technologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to various campuses as needed to fulfil job responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related field.

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with instructional design and technology including familiarity with learning management systems and course design software.

  • Experience with web-based instructional design.

2024 annual benefits include:

  • 3 - 4 weeks of paid vacation time based on years of service

  • Paid winter break - varies each year based on academic calendar and, at a minimum, includes days between Christmas and New Year's holidays (some exceptions may apply for essential workers)
