Position Summary

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating learning for GCR (Bridgestone Commercial Stores).

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops eLearning and mobile learning outlines, storyboards, instructor-led training, and manages or does production of courses from beginning to end, adhering to project plans and deadlines

  • Manage and partner with vendors to create eLearning, mobile learning, videos, other digital assets, and leverage technologies for effective learning and development options for teammates

  • Requires the ability to work proactively with subject matter experts on training development and to gain the confidence of management by demonstrating professionalism and training expertise in a dynamic, changing environment

  • Create focused training activities to the appropriate audience and environment. Focusing training on what function the participants need to learn to perform/do to be most successful in their job

  • Evaluate, select, and leverage training industry best practices/vendors/technologies and sells and spearheads management of them

  • Report effectiveness of training efforts (ROI) as they relate to business results

  • Run and analyze LMS reports to find trends, learn outcomes, and show results

  • Facilitate Train-the-Trainer sessions, as needed

  • Program and project management for GCR use of Bridgestone Commercial Online Learning Center (LMS) for all levels of field management and work through other processes as it relates to learning content or assessments

  • Proactively and continuously focuses on educating themselves and implementing best practices in training and development through webinars, seminars, and organizations

  • Travel to company locations for needs analysis, gathering content, SME consultations, educational needs, and meetings as needed (approximately 10% travel)

  • Other duties as assigned that support the mission of learning and development of Bridgestone Commercial

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2-3 years training experience with analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of e-learning, mobile learning, instructor-led, and blended learning programs

  • Minimum two (2) years project management skills

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in using rapid development authoring tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline or Captivate)

  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels and disciplines across the organization to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Must be able to diplomatically obtain buy-in from teammates, leadership, and organization on new recommendations and changes needed to move the team forward

  • Demonstrated knowledge of training and development industry best practices, instructional design, and adult learning methodology

  • Vendor management and relationship building experience

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and creative problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to analyze the latest technology offerings from a learning industry perspective and make recommendations and business case to leadership

  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels and disciplines across the organization to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing

This would require enormous amounts of communication of all kinds (writing, speaking, listening, presenting) as this job essentially personifies "collaboration" in order to keep teams running as well-oiled machines, implementing decisions after thorough discussions, and managing people where their roles entwine. Role Responsibility The Curriculum & Instructional Designer needs to wear multiple hats, playing the role of facilitator, innovator, researcher, and developer. They work with other departments and subject matter experts to develop learning objectives, conduct needs assessments, and design programs. They select and use a variety of techniques to define and develop instructional materials, leveraging available technology to deliver. At times, they need to use creative, outside-the-box methods to deliver materials and projects, using what is available and recommend programs, as needed. Role Responsibilities * Conduct a needs assessment to determine the appropriate need for the business request. After proper assessment, determine the information to be shared, method for sharing (training, job aid, team huddle, email, etc.), deliver to the correct audience, and update the relevant training manuals as needed. If offline training is needed, develop the training and ensure documentation is updated for the pertinent training manual * Design a curriculum or department program by using Web-based learning, Instructor-led training, Virtual classroom training, Guides (such as job aids, quick reference guides, infographics) and blended solutions * Select and use a variety of techniques for determining instructional content * Select and use a variety of techniques to define and sequence the instructional content and strategies * Develop new instructional materials and select or modify existing instructional materials * Design and develop and provide effective implementation of instructional material and programs in a corporate and consultative setting that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learner * Evaluate and assess instruction and its impact * Plan and manage instructional design projects * Promote collaboration, partnerships and relationships among the participants in a design project * Design a standard process for training material that includes variations of approach to suit all learning styles that includes exercises, activities, discussions, role plays, etc. * Responsible for creating and maintaining the Customer Solution Center knowledge management tool * Create and deliver communication including but not limited to department wide announcements, weekly newsletters * Facilitate product launches and new releases through e-learning content and knowledge management updates, or other outlets as needed * Act as the Communication Expert, using email, alerts, knowledge center, and other programs as needed to communicate important information for teams as needed * Create feedback channel for associates to request future communication content * Employ strong people skills, including but not limited to the ability to facilitate meetings and handle both ambiguity and constant change within the team and with the client * Deliver on time and within an efforts-estimate budget * Conduct a post training review to assess the curriculum and training effectiveness and modify and update as required by the business * Proactively seek and strive for professional growth to increase effectiveness of skill sets * Other duties as assigned The Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
