POSITION INFORMATION: Provides professional support in the selection, design, production and implementation of instructional objectives and strategies. Implements instructional design principles through interaction with the faculty and staff to ensure the effective delivery of instruction. Consults with faculty and other staff concerning instructional techniques including web-based course delivery.
Instructional Objective Assessment. Works with faculty and staff to define instructional objectives and prescribe instructional strategies, based on analysis of faculty/learner needs and goals. Evaluate outcomes assessments and effectiveness of evaluation methods. Ensure competencies are being met and addressed.
Web-Based Learning. Assist in the development of web-based courses, the design and creation of web-based learning materials and the development of interactive computer-mediated learning. May assist with the delivery of courses and seminars.
Information Format Alteration. Modify and adapt current curricular materials into web-based learning materials.
Media Evaluation. Assist faculty and professional staff in determining the appropriateness of various media, taking into account cost, educational goals and objectives, and potential audience.
Collaboration. Collaborate with technical support staff for the provision of web-based classes.
Orientation Technology. Participate in implementation of faculty, staff, and student orientation and instruction in the use of educational technology.
Committees. Serve as the administrative liaison on the Curriculum Committee, Website Committee and other College and/or University committees as deemed appropriate.
Distance Learning Evaluation. Facilitate the development of formative and summative evaluations of distance learning techniques.
As Needed. Performs other duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in education, instructional technology, library science or related field.
Experience: 36 months of experience in higher education, including knowledge and experience in course, curriculum, and program development.
Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months.
Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of principle and practices of instructional design and e-learning.
Strong management skills.
Familiarity with multimedia and web design technology.
Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Customer service oriented and able to work in a team environment.
Master's Degree in education, instructional technology, library science or related field.
Previous college teaching experience.
Ability to work with faculty and staff members and to collaborate with others (IT personnel) in the design of instructional technology.
Previous experience in the application of various distance learning technologies including on-line instruction.
Web-based course development experience.
