Please note, position is funded through Title II Funds and continuation of position will be dependent on available Title II Funds.

Primary Purpose:

Provide instructional design leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program. Facilitate New Teacher Academy Program. Guide and coach first-year teachers to provide high-quality educational experience for all students.

Education /Certification:

  • Master's degree is preferred

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

1.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

2.Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.

3.Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness.

4.Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.

Experience /Other Requirements:

  • Five years experience as a classroom teacher.

  • Extensive educational focus in the area of classroom management, classroom organization, student engagement, and classroom environment.

  • Instructional coaching experience is preferred

Major Responsibilitiesand Duties:

Instructional and Program Management

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the overall instructional program of the District, including (but not limited to) the New Teacher Academy Program.

  • Provide differentiated support and guidance to develop first-year teachers and aspiring teachers focusing on classroom management, organization, student engagement, and classroom environment.

  • Remain current in the fields of curriculum and staff development through attendance at state and national conferences and research of current literature in the areas of innovative instructional strategies and best practices.

  • Conduct meetings with District and campus instructional leaders for the purpose of feedback, input, and recommendation.

  • Serve on various advisory committees and planning teams.

  • Collaborates with instructional coordinators and campus instructional coaches in their efforts to facilitate the vertical articulation of the program PK-12 and coordinates their efforts to lead and support campus personnel in implementing an effective instructional program.

  • Utilize a variety of ways to involve District faculty in the development of instructional programs and strategies as per the District Improvement Plan.

  • Develop, revise, and support implementation of District-wide curriculum based on local, state, and national curriculum standards.

  • Assists campus administrators and district personnel with the evaluation and selection of supplementary materials, software programs, equipment, and furniture to support effective classroom instruction.

  • Coordinate development of District-wide professional learning consistent with the District Improvement Plan.

  • Provide leadership in addressing the challenges facing the profession.

  • Prepare, maintain, and present all information, reports, and records as required.

  • Collaborate with other personnel in a collegial, supportive manner.

  • Represent the District with regard to the instructional program at city, regional, state, and national meetings, committees, and conferences.

  • Pursues grant opportunities to support the instructional program including grant writing and/or administration as recommended by the District grant writer.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents, and the district.

Staff Development

  • Plan and present staff professional development consistent with District initiatives and best practices.

  • Plan for and provide effective staff development that is based on research and best practices, supports the District curriculum, and incorporates the vision and mission of Comal ISD.

  • Support the development of campus experts through staff development in content and responsive instructional practices.

  • Analyze student assessment data and feedback from staff as a method to assess current and future staff development needs.

  • Serves as a resource to campus administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community agencies.

  • Seeks, evaluates and responds to feedback from teachers, administrators, peers, supervisors, and other professionals.

Other

  • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
