POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:           Instructional, Curriculum & Assessment CoachFACILITY:            Crow Agency Public School, Fort Smith Elementary              School, Hardin Primary School, Hardin Intermediate School, Hardin Middle School, Hardin High School

REPORTS TO:              Curriculum Director

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Instructional/Curriculum and Assessment Coach will work as a colleague with the Curriculum teach along with classroom teachers throughout the school district to support student learning. The Instructional/Curriculum and Assessment Coach will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about evidence-base effective instruction. In order to meet this purpose, the Instructional/Curriculum and Assessment Coach will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers and grade-level/content groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions

Observe classroom instruction, provide constructive feedback, and demonstrate/model best practice teaching strategies in all buildings in the district

Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies that engage all students

Provide organized, individual and / or group learning opportunities for instructional staff

Demonstrate knowledge using a variety of assessment tools

Provide support in analyzing student assessment data

Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data

Assist teachers with specific instructional classroom lessons when requested

Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies

Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum

Monitor intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers

Instruct and support teachers with curriculum software products, and classroom/curriculum related technologies

Provide assistance in researching instructional and / or curriculum issues

Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers to improve student learning

Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers

Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning

Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals

Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction and assessments

Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers

Obtain advance approval of the Principal / Curriculum Director for unique activities and expenditures

Perform other duties as assigned by the Curriculum Director for the purpose of enhancing instruction

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION:

Valid Montana Teacher Certification with proper endorsement

Master’s Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in evidence-based instructional practices

Proficiency with curriculum software

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program

Ability to plan and lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and school community

Ability to be flexible in scheduling and planning

Ability to effectively use technology in the instructional/learning process

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Ability to handle stressful situations

Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student matters

Ability the respond to change productively

Ability to handle other tasks as assigned

Ability to support the philosophy and vision of the school and the value of an Education

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies

EQUIPMENT USED:

Audio-visual equipment, interactive boards, computers, tablet, printer, copier, general school equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually available.

The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
