Provide support to programs and/or services that supplement the regular education program, curriculum and district initiatives so that students graduate college, career and/or military ready and have the opportunity to participate in other college readiness measures. Coordinate and provide support in professional learning communities to support the alignment of content, the backwards design process and curriculum resources. Serve as an on-site instructional coach for the teaching staff to train and provide supplemental support to the regular education programs. Attend district instructional program trainings and implement the instructional programs at the campus level. Serve as a lead teacher training, planning, implementing and assessing supplemental educational programs relevant to the needs of all students particularly in the areas of Math/Science and/or Reading and Language Arts/Social Studies. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Provides instructional support to all students to include students who are Emergent Bilinguals, who are at-risk of dropping out of school and to students who did not perform satisfactorily on assessments (such as, but not limited to Diagnostic Assessments, State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), state and district assessments, and checkpoints).

  • Serve as an on-site instructional coach for the teaching staff and work with teachers in professional learning communities. Serve as a role model and demonstrate instructional strategies to improve student performance in the areas of Math/Science and/or Reading and Language Arts/Social Studies.

  • Assist in the collection, analysis and evaluation of student performance data; ensure appropriate student placement in school supplemental programs to include Response to Intervention (RTI), Section 504, Gifted and Talented (GT), and enrichment.

  • Serve as the trainer and liaison to the campus in attending professional development workshops provided by the district. Coordinate and provide staff development training for district initiatives and supplemental programs at faculty meetings and designated professional development days in relation to Math/Science and/or Reading and Language Arts/Social Studies.

  • Collaborate with teachers and the administrative team to develop and evaluate supplemental instructional programs. Perform classroom support visits and periodically review the Math/Science and/or Reading and Language Arts/Social Studies, Advanced, and College and Career Readiness programs for student success.

  • Ensure that an auditable schedule of daily duties is maintained at all times. A detailed record/schedule of duties, days and times when working extra duty must also be maintained.

  • Work individually with teachers on specific instructional strategies to provide differentiated instruction. Provide follow-up after instructional training. Leverage the use of technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process for the success of at-risk students.

  • Provide ongoing differentiated support and monitor the use of campus and district resources.

  • Collaborate with campus administrators to plan and coordinate instructional initiatives such as, orientation, instructional nights, instructional fairs, instructional awards programs, tutoring, STAAR Interventions, College and Career Readiness (CCR), intersession and summer school.

  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate records as required by administrative regulations, district policies, and state and federal agencies. Assist the campus administration in compiling any pertinent administrative reports.

  • Attendance at the work site is required to meet the essential functions of the job.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional code of ethics; present a professional image in grooming and attire, and serve as a role model for all students.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Virtual and Online Teaching Duties (additional as assigned)

  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for distance or virtual learning that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

  • Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular school business hours to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. Participate in meetings as required and/or coordinated by supervisors. Utilize the workday to plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate student work, lessons and activities.

  • Create a virtual classroom environment (as needed), conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree, preferred; certification in Educational Supervision and/or Mid-Management/Principalship/Superintendency, preferred; three (3) years' experience as a classroom teacher. Texas Teacher Certificate required relevant to the grade levels serving. Possess a working knowledge of curriculum and instruction to increase student achievement; ability to evaluate instructional programs; ability to coordinate supplemental district programs; ability to interpret policy, procedures and data. Mus possess strong organizational, communications, computer, and public relations skills; possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Able to maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Prolonged sitting, standing, frequent kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting. Regular lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); movement of small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment. Repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists, and frequent walking. Occasional district-wide travel and state-wide travel. Work inside, outside, from home or location other than school building, and exposure to noise. Use of personal or district issued computer, phone system, video/instructional equipment, and peripherals. PE teachers: use of Automated external defibrillator (AED). Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
