POSITION: Instructional Coach (Math/ELA)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification
Five or more years successful teaching experience
Certification in Secondary teaching, preferred
Experience developing and delivering various professional development i.e. seminars, workshops, facilitated work sessions, small groups, one on one coaching, and modeling lessons preferred
Ability to collaborate with staff and administrators
Ability to assess training needs and work with individual teachers or teams of teachers to provide support, coaching, and feedback through reflective dialogue
Knowledge of the curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional materials in Content Area
Knowledge of pedagogy and content
Knowledge of best practice and strategies to increase student engagement
Knowledge of the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and the ability to communicate this process with staff
Knowledge of the implementation of the Response to Intervention and the ability to communicate this process with staff
Knowledge of instructional differentiation strategies
Knowledge of Common Core Standards and Data Driven Decision Making
Familiarity with District initiatives
Understand and can apply concepts of adult learning and motivation
Experience with school improvement planning process
Proficient in the use of instructional technology
Demonstrated engagement in on-going professional growth activities
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Instructional Coach (IC) works closely with administration to ensure effective instruction in all classrooms. The IC drives a culture of instructional excellence through teacher support and training. The IC coaches, teaches, supports coaching initiatives, designs and presents professional development, supports curricular initiatives, and works closely with the Principal to maximize teacher performance. The IC's success is ultimately determined by teachers' ability to drive high-level student achievement.

Participate in weekly coaching or observing to provide feedback through reflective dialogue for teachers district-wide
Participate in weekly lesson delivery to students by modeling or co-teaching of district approved curriculum
Engage in action researched-based practices around academic challenges
Serve as the Lead Mentor for new teachers
Assist with the administration of District and State Testing
Conduct Instructional Learning Walks with school/teacher leaders
Analyze District, school level, grade level, and classroom data in order to identify strengths and weaknesses and plan targeted support to improve teacher quality and effectiveness
Collaborate with District and building administrators to establish coaching priorities and support district PD initiatives
Collaborate with grade level teams in their Professional Learning Communities to review data and reflect on instruction
Collaborate with Curriculum Specialists to stay abreast of District Curricular initiatives and/or changes
Facilitate small group learning of new content, pedagogy, and instructional strategies
Serve as a member of the School Success Team
Assist Director, curriculum specialist and principal with planning & implementing building level professional development as identified in the SSP
Maintain accurate records of training activities and coaching sessions in an electronic system designated by the District
Demonstrate model lessons
Ability to attend state-wide content meetings
Ability to work evening and summer hours (Compensated)
Lead or facilitate lesson studies and/or book studies
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to establish school-wide policies and protocols regarding instruction and school climate
Develop instructional resources for teachers that will support student achievement
Provide classroom level support to establish a positive classroom environment
Broker resources to support professional growth
