Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instructional support and assistance to teachers and students assigned to a designated special education instructional program; perform a variety of support activities related to behavior management and classroom instruction of special education students; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and provide routine clerical support.
There are various positions available that vary from 3.5 hours per day to 6.0 hours per day. However, the schedule is a set schedule M-F depending on the position.Education and Experience:Equivalent to graduation from high school, plus complete two years of study at an institution of higher education (college level) or forty-eight (48) semester units, including a math and an English class or obtain an Associate's degree or higher* (units need to be passed with a grade of C or higher); good general background and work experience, including one year of paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children desired.
Transcripts need to be uploaded to the application reflecting 48 units or more including one math and one English class, units need to be passed with a grade of C or higher. Examination Information:
Basic Skills test. The basic skills test will be waived for those applicants who have taken and passed all portions of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST). Please provide a copy of the CBEST card when submitting an application if you do not want to take the district Basic Skills Test. ACCOMMODATIONS: In compliance with the American Disabilities Act, applicants with disabilities may request that reasonable accommodation be given related to the examination process itself.
Applicants must notify the Office of Human Resources in writing of the type of accommodations being requested at the time of filing the application. Applicants may be required to provide documentation supporting the request for accommodation when the request is made. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district.
All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential data form, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
