POSITION DESCRIPTION: The job of Instructional Assistant, Sign Language is done for the purpose(s) of assisting a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely, physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom who use American Sign Language as their primary language; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance and assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience providing sign language interpreting for hearing impaired individuals. Experience in a school setting is preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED TESTING: Once this position closes, your application will be screened for minimum qualifications.

Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be e-mailed an invitation for testing. Testing is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on August 16, 2019. Applicants with 48 or more semester units from an accredited college or university may be eligible to forego testing by attaching transcripts for verification to their online EdJoin application prior to the position closing date/time. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
