Instructional Assistant, Part Time Position
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated part-time Instructional Assistant to support special education students. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students with diverse needs achieve their fullest potential. This role involves working closely with special education teachers to provide individualized support and create an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
Assist special education teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities tailored to students with multiple disabilities.
Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support students during lessons, ensuring they understand and complete tasks.
Student Assistance:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with multiple disabilities, focusing on their individualized education plans (IEPs).
Assist with the development of functional academic skills, communication, social skills, and daily living activities.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and support staff.
Personal Care:
Assist students with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and mobility as needed.
Implement and follow individualized care plans and protocols for students with medical needs.
Behavioral Support:
Implement behavior intervention plans and support students in developing appropriate behavior and social skills.
Use positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies as needed.
Supervision and Safety:
Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other activities to ensure their safety.
Assist with the supervision of students during field trips and special events.
Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children with multiple disabilities is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
Physical ability to assist with personal care tasks and mobility needs.
Ability to pass a background check and other required clearances.
