POSITION DESCRIPTION: The job of Instructional Assistant, Early Head Start (Level IV) is done for the purpose(s) of assisting in the supervision and instruction of infants and toddler-aged children (0 - 3 years old); performing classroom clerical tasks; assisting children in meeting health and nutrition needs and developing children's cognitive and emotional skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION An Associate's degree from an accredited college/university including completion of 24 semester units of ECE/CD coursework from a regionally accredited college/university. Instructional Assistants assigned to work with infants must have 6 infant/toddler units. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Six months experience working as an instructional assistant.

  • Copy of Transcript (Copy of legible transcripts must be attached to your application, showing Associate's Degree conferral date from an accredited college/university - transcripts must also show completion of 24 semester units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development (ECE/CD) coursework AND 6 infant/toddler units. (Must attach transcripts showing grades earned - Diploma copies will not be accepted))
  • Letter of Introduction (Letter must be specific to the position for which you are applying)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two Letters of Recommendation are required and must be signed by the author. The signature block must include the author's name and title/relationship to the applicant. Letters must be dated within the last 2 years prior to the position closing date. Letters without a signature, author name and title/relationship to the applicant and letters without a date or dated more than 2 years past closing date will not be accepted. One letter from a supervisor is preferred)
  • Resume (Must be current and consistent with your EdJoin application/Record of Work Experience)
