Pathway School educates and equips students who struggle in traditional classrooms by providing them with skills and strategies to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. A majority of our students have a language-based learning disability that affects their ability to learn to read, to develop written language skills, and to acquire mathematical skills.

Pathway School students may suffer from anxiety, frustration and low self-esteem. Often, these are secondary to their learning disabilities. Examples of terms used to describe the learning differences commonly found at Pathway School are: dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, specific learning disability, language-based learning disorder, auditory or visual processing disorder, ADHD, high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, or executive functioning.

Pathway School educates and equips students who struggle in traditional classrooms by providing them with skills and strategies to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL / INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR DEFINITION:

Under supervision of the school director and the learning center director, present reading and writing and math support to students and perform a variety of clerical tasks required for communication with classroom teachers, administration and parents. Tutor small groups of students, using provided lessons as directed; provide supervision and instruction to large groups of students, using provided lessons as directed; provide an educationally motivating environment; when needed, incorporate behavior modification methods; maintain daily record of student progress; attend meetings and trainings as required; assist in communicating student progress to classroom teachers, parents and administrators. QUALIFICATIONS: Supervision and motivation of students; correct oral and written usage of English; basic math, reading and composition skills; simple record keeping.

Ability to Learn, understand, and apply knowledge of the reading process and how it is developed, implement the provided curriculum and instructional techniques, realize when curriculum modifications are necessary for meeting the students' needs and provide appropriate modifications; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. 2 years of experience working with large and small groups of children in an educational setting. Strong math skills. The spiritual life of a Pathway staff member should be dynamic and encouraging to those with whom they work.
