DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist a Teacher in the instruction, supervision, and training of individual or groups of bilingual students by performing a variety of instructional support activities related to an effective learning environment.

KNOWLEDGE OF: - Specialized academic and/or skill area(s) and related learning situations; - Proper English usage, vocabulary, and grammar. ABILITY TO: - Understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner; - Understand the needs of students and effectively relate to those needs in appropriate learning situations; - Communicate fluently in a designated foreign language(s) in both oral and written form; - Understand the needs of non-English speaking and/or bilingual children and to effectively relate to those needs in an appropriate learning situation; - Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. All applicants must pass or have passed the District Instructional Assistant exam AND the Spanish Translation exam. Date and location listed above.

If you do not come on the assigned date, you will not be eligible for this position. The Instructional Assistant exam will be waived if you hold an AA degree or higher, but NOT the Spanish translation exam. A copy of the degree must be attached, if applicable.

If you have passed the exams for this position within the past two years or have questions as to whether you need to take these exams, you will need to contact Personnel to verify that you will not need to retest, or you may be disqualified from this posting.
