The Non-Public School at Childhelp USA, a premiere Residential Treatment Facility and group home for children 6-14 years of age with severe emotional and behavioral challenges in the hills above Beaumont, California has immediate openings for Instructional Aides/Drivers for serving children in grades K-12.
In this role, you will provide instructional assistance in the classroom, regular and consistent supervision and behavioral management for K-12 students with severe emotional and behavioral challenges, assist the classroom teacher with presentation of material, assisting with creation and implementation of behavior management plans for the classroom and other areas of the program. The incumbent in the position will be assigned a driving route to transport children to and from their homes in the community and the NPS.


Additional duties include, but are not limited to: 1.Observe and document childrens progress daily, complete incident reports as needed, and assist with maintaining charts, grades and other required documentation.
2.Provide Behavioral/Instructional Support by communicating measurable learning/ behavior objectives and guide children toward mastery, assisting children with identifying barriers that interfere with learning and help the children learn ways to overcome them successfully, providing support and supervision during review and individual practice of work and supervising to and from school including driving routes to and from the childrens homes.
3.Create positive and beneficial Child/Staff Interaction by circulating among the children and providing frequent individual attention, encouraging the childrens motivation by being enthusiastic, professional, and encouraging, demonstrating an understanding of the childs challenges, communicating to children under the direction of the teacher about IEP/behavioral goals regularly, and creating line of sight supervision at all times.
4.Demonstrate professionalism at all times by adopting a problem solving approach conflict situations, communicating with respect to co-workers, parents and other professionals, and responding positively to staff, teachers, therapists and supervisors feedback.
5.Identify childrens needs, and develop and implement interventions for meeting them. This encompasses areas such as:
6.Education:communicating with school, instituting individual homework plan, teaching reading etc.
7.Emotional growth: building self-esteem, increasing self-control by identifying feelings and coping skill to deal with them.Build relationships and be a role model.

Skills:
Encourage and demonstrate proper manners, interactions with peers, and increasing community involvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School diploma with a least one-year of experience working with children; must successfully complete a course in appropriate verbal and physical crisis intervention techniques.
Must have a current and valid State of California Driver's License, a clean driving record and pass DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse criminal background screening.
Preferred An AA Degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited college or university plus 1 year of experience working with children in a residential group home setting or as an instructional aide in a public or non-public school. .
OR
Possess a B.A. or B.S. Degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited college or university and 6-months experience working with children.
