Position Summary

Position open until filled / First Review of materials will begin: July 18, 2024

Salary range for this position is: $46,620/yr. - $62,596.80yr. (depending on experience)

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Under the supervision of the Dean of AHSS, the Instructional and Classroom Support Tech 2 is responsible for meeting student-learning outcomes and core themes, rigor and standards for excellence, as well as coordinating student use of facilities in the School of Apparel Design and Development.

This position does not supervise anyone, but may direct the work of others

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

What you will be working on:

  • Provide a supportive working relationship with students, faculty, other college departments and student services.

  • Assist faculty with preparation on instructional materials and samples.

  • Assist faculty with demonstrations of equipment to students, work-study students and lab monitors.

  • Oversee the day-to-day work of student employees in collaboration with faculty and program priorities, including logging hours and tasks performed.

  • Assist students in troubleshooting equipment and non-equipment related issues. Inform faculty of related issues.

  • Schedule open lab times for skill development students.

  • Acquire, organize and distribute supplies and teaching resource materials necessary for student projects.

  • Consult with students in creating kits, coordinating copied packets, and updating and filing of materials.

  • Organize and maintain program reference materials, including assembling grades, syllabi, student lists, books and other program-related materials. Maintain office files, mailing lists, alumni databases and library.

  • Assist faculty to research and purchase online supplies. Submit and process orders for purchase requests.

  • Order materials and supplies with program coordinator authorization and assist in the reconciliation of departmental charges on a monthly basis.

  • Systemize and organize storerooms, including accurate inventory and supply, and general cleanliness.

  • General cleanup and organization of departmental workspaces.

  • Perform routine maintenance, prepare repair requests, maintain equipment records and organize end of quarter cleaning crew.

  • Respond to departmental inquiries, including coordination with other college departments, administration, community partners and potential donors.

  • Conduct department orientation and provide tours as needed.

  • Create and maintain student displays and information bulletin boards.

  • Assist in program recruitment and marketing efforts, including the end of the year portfolio show.

  • Take minutes and notes at TAC meetings and submit to faculty for approval.

  • Update website and social media accounts.

  • Additional tasks as assigned by unit administrator.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • A Bachelor¿s Degree in Apparel Design or closely related area: OR completion of two-year degree in Apparel Design; OR equivalent education/experience

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Software and Optitex.

  • Production patternmaking and construction skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Seeks actively to develop new skills.

  • Works collaboratively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.

  • Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.

  • Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
