The Department of Human Services, Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility Branch has ONE (1) urgent vacancy located in Kailua, Oahu.

Duties Summary

This position supervises and participates in:

  • planting, cultivating, and harvesting vegetables, fruits, and forage
  • dusting, application of fertilizers and insecticides
  • activities relating to the feeding, breeding, and care of livestock and poultry.
  • maintains the pasture grounds, aquaculture facilities, fruit and vegetable crop (hydroponic and agricultural farming)
  • In addition to performing a variety of semi-skilled farming tasks, supervise the work of a group of inmates, patients, wards, or paid farm employees on a continuous basis and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Experience: THREE (3) YEARS of experience in general farm work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that "....an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who:

(1) Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.

(2) Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
