Installer Technician

The Installer Technician is responsible for installing information technology equipment as it relates to network cabling, network hardware, and computer hardware on all campuses. This is a hands-on position that will help with the installation of hardware in an equipment rack and will help with the mounting of TV display devices.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license

• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladder and work in tight spaces such as equipment closets or drop ceilings position

• Able to use Microsoft Office Suite

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for information technology services as it relates to network cabling, network hardware, and computer hardware on all campuses. This position reports to the Director of Network Systems at the College.

• Works with various cabling, that includes running new cables, removing old cables.

• Installs network cables, network ports, network equipment, phones , network classroom display technologies, building access equipment and cabling, and cable television.

• Pick up selected hardware from our NWCC warehouse and transport it to specific buildings and rooms across NWCC campuses as requested.

• Help with the installation of hardware in an equipment rack and will help with the mounting of TV display devices.

• Assists with large installations requiring multiple staff members to lift or hold equipment while it is being mounted.

• Able to unbox and plug in equipment for configuration or deploy installation for production.

• Must be able to use basic hand tools.

• Able to receive work and document work in a ticket system.

• Familiar with Microsoft Office products

• Must be able to document equipment asset tags and complete proper paperwork when moving equipment.

• Must be able to count, make lists and type.

• Must assist with equipment disposal process.

• Participates in team meetings or installation meetings, and/or planning meetings.

• Other duties assigned by the Director of Network Systems.
