What You Will Do
STERIS' Installation Technicians act as the face of STERIS by achieving One of a Kind Service for our Customers. The Installation Technician is a field-based, Customer-facing role that primarily travels to Customer sites (medical facilities) to install Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department equipment. They provide complete equipment installation in accordance with plans and specifications including scheduling, delivery, installation, check-out, and final inspection of equipment. Installation Technicians are also responsible for building positive relationships with Customers and peers, as well as completing necessary administrative tasks.
Relatable skills for this role include: working on large military or farm equipment, doing complex vehicle repairs, equipment installation, building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or other field service repair work.
What You Will Need To Be Successful
High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience, or an Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical or similar degree, plus 1+ year(s) of related experience.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside "normal business hours" and travel as required. Travel is estimated at 70-80%.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Experience navigating a computer and exposure to Microsoft Office programs.
Must be comfortable driving a large vehicle (Ford Transit van or similar) in the city and must be able to park the vehicle at your home.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Willingness to work in a hospital environment which may include visibility to emergency trauma.
Physical Working Requirements
This position requires routine walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling and grasping.
Perform work from floor level to above shoulder height. This may include using ladders and/or scaffolds.
Routinely lift/lower/carry 1 to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/lower 36 to 49 pounds.
Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
Working in confined spaces and variable temperatures.
