The Installation Technician II is someone with mechanical aptitude who has experience installing heating & cooling systems and who will fill a supervisory role, guiding installation of the system. The technician shall have or has capability to acquire (within a structured growth plan of 3 - 9 months) industry certifications from among a list including universal refrigerant, EPA, natural gas & propane. Being a plumbing apprentice or licensed plumber would be an added benefit.
The Installation Technician II guides the project from turn over with sales to equipment startup and turnover to the building owner with a service technician. They will look ahead and consider schedule, labor requirements, site conditions and material ordering with overall project completion and success in mind. They will apply skills to every situation with good judgement and integrity and will consider equipment serviceability and installation quality as primary factors in the installation process. The technician will be adaptable to change as they will be called on to support installation of a wide variety of HVAC systems throughout the course of any given month or year.
The Installation Technician II will provide coaching and job specific guidance to Installation Technician I's, working in cooperation with job needs and departmental goals. The technician is the face of Vermont Mechanical and will conduct themselves with professionalism & reliability.
Requirements+
Attend sales turnover meetings to understand project requirements, building owner expectations, assist with material selection and otherwise adopt an ownership mentality of the project installation requirements.
Work with department service coordinator and managers to project and schedule labor needs.
Provide skills and installation labor associated Vermont Mechanical service installations including:
Boiler changeouts & associated piping system modifications
Furnace / Small RTU & supporting gas piping
Air source heat pump & supporting refrigerant piping
Fill and purge hydronic heating systems
Read, understand and implement manufacturer's instructions for equipment being installed.
Perform soldering & brazing with proper utilization of nitrogen
Pressure test & fill refrigeration piping
Gas system piping & pressure testing
Complete daily documentation to support prompt visit summary & client billing.
Provide support to other service department needs such as providing occasional support to demand service calls (not part of an on-call rotation).
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude and proven ability to participate in mechanical system installations as listed in Essential Job Functions.
Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with other technicians
Ethical decision-making ability
Certifications, licenses, and registrations include -
Natural gas / propane
Universal refrigerant / EPA
Plumbing apprenticeship or licensed plumber
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds
Regularly lifting between 25 and 50 pounds
Working in Vermont's outdoor climate
Working at heights
Driving - sitting for periods of time.
Exposure to extreme temperatures
Working in awkward spaces and at heights
