We are looking for an Inspection Services Coordinator to join the City of Charleston's Public Service Department! The Inspection Service Coordinator is an essential role within the dynamic field inspection team. The position requires an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, team player capable of coordinating all aspects of the building inspection process. The role supports the Field Inspection Supervisor working with the field inspection team efficiently and effectively to manage daily field inspection operations, record-keeping and reporting.
Provides administrative support to Chief Building Official, Deputy Building Official and Field Inspections Supervisor
Participates in related professional building code organization
Fosters open communication & positive relationships between The City, customers and the general public
Generates and distributes daily reports to regional utility purveyors
Manages project inspection workflows ensuring accuracy, continuity and completeness
Applies and invoices re-inspection fees to the appropriate permit holders
Serves as liaison between Field Inspections Team and Development & Construction Services (Permit Center) Team
Manages approved Third Party Inspection Program process and supports the Field Inspection Supervisor with related documentation and records
Manages inspections phone hotline to ensure customers are provided responsive and correct inspection information and guidance
Manages and processes inspection requests and other related communications
Responsible for processing all inspection request forms
Researches, compiles and distributes building permit and inspection information records to fulfill Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) requests
Manages daily inspection schedule and daily field inspection team workload assignments to the field inspection team
Provides quality customer service, ensuring fair and equitable service delivery to all customers
Manages inspection team mobile phone, including responding timely to calls, text messages, and voice-mails
Researches and schedules Stop Work Order (SWO) inspections requests to the appropriate City divisions
Compiles, tracks and updates SWO weekly report
Coordinates with Field Inspections Supervisor to monitor SWO progress from initiation to resolution
Develops and maintains inspection related standard operating procedures and guidelines with the goal to efficiently and effectively assist customers and the inspection team on inspection related procedures and processes
Advises customers on how to successfully navigate digital customer service portal related to inspection requests, information and documentation
Performs other duties as assigned
Associate's (AA/AS) in accounting, public administration, criminal justice or related field and 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
