Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont Maintenance & Reliability Expertise Center (M&R EC) has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Inspection and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) to be located either in Midland, MI or Pittsburg, CA. Under the general direction of the Global Reliability Discipline Leader, the incumbent defines the In-Plant Inspection and Non-Destructive Examination Technologies applicable for the Ag Division assets and establishes goals and improvement objectives.
The SME tracks and reports progress on key NDE improvement initiatives.
Completes assessment of Site NDE capabilities to develop and implement gap closure plans.
Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is maintained up to date for Inspections and NDE.
Acts as consultant for the sites on performing inspections and the appropriate NDE.
Be a subject matter expert in Inspections and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Technology.
Role is focused on improving the technology and introducing new innovative solutions associated with In-Plant Inspection and NDE, driving down the cost of these services, and ensuring consistent implementation across all manufacturing facilities.
Evaluate new and evolving technologies to determine benefits related to the cost and improvement in test results as opposed to current methods being utilized.
Provides expert coaching and guidance to sites on their expertise area (i.e. setting up inspection programs, as well as inspections support).
Selection of inspection best practices and technology along with development and ownership/maintenance of MET.
Help ensure regulatory compliance. Participates in Mechanical Integrity Steering teams.
Works with the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Implementation teams to provide input on NDE and In-Plant Inspection Techniques to optimize the RBI Inspection Strategies.
Works with organizations to assess and implement expertise area (i.e. innovation centers and industry organizations) to leverage innovation from/to the process industry in the field of Inspection and NDE.
Lead network of site NDE/Inspection focal points (qualified inspectors, mechanical integrity specialists, etc.) to drive implementation and leveraging of inspection best practices and innovative solutions and MET.
Review, approve, manage, document, and audit various NDE procedures from Dow and from contractors providing this service. Ensure supplier procedure compliance and approve use of contract suppliers.
Infrequently perform external fabrication shop inspections and related QA as needed.
Administers the corporate painting program including providing technical expertise on coatings, and supporting sites with paint condition assessment and appropriate funding for painting projects.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
Minimum 8 years of experience in In-Plant Inspections, NDE, RBI technologies as NDE Engineer/Specialist, Mechanical Integrity Specialist is required.
External NDT Level III certification as per ASNT or ISO-9712 in the techniques MT, PT, RT and UT or willing to achieve these qualifications is required.
Extensive knowledge of API Inspection Codes API 510, 570 and 653. Currently possesses Inspection Certificates for API 510, 570 and 653, or equivalent or willing to achieve these certifications is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
A degree discipline in Materials Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
Training and coaching experience is preferred.
Ability to network / function globally is preferred.
Able to provide training and guidance to plant contacts in the areas of the Inspection and NDE for which they are responsible is preferred.
Experience and abilities in understanding equipment failure modes and damage mechanisms and problem solving is preferred.
Ability to learn and apply new technologies in the inspection and NDE field is preferred.
