In Inside Sales, you will work directly with your field sales teammate and our engineering and operations groups to achieve our sales objectives and exceed customer expectations. You will be closing net-new business while fostering positive and collaborative relationships with prospects to learn about, engage with and implement products that unlock the unknown. You will partner with customers to understand their needs, determine the right products to meet these needs and engage outside sales team members to expand Ocean's offerings and solutions into those customers in the most timely and effective way. You will engage with customers across industries, company sizes to determine needs and identify opportunities, while providing technical product overviews and insights that are pertinent to the customer's needs.

Through a natural curiosity and passion for servicing our customer, the successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate Ocean's value and help customers envision a future working with our technologies for their application

  • Provide basic and intricate application support for existing and new opportunities with a focus on customer satisfaction and revenue generation

  • Effectively turn prospects and qualified leads into opportunities and revenue pipeline. This will include screening inbound queries to the appropriate segment team members and identifying opportunities to go beyond the initial query to develop the value of an account

  • Quickly engage with customers as the primary point of contact and effectively move from lead to sale

  • Accurately forecast sales and create a growing pipeline of opportunities

  • Demonstrate Ocean's value proposition for the research and academic segments

  • Develop and build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders

  • Leverage outbound social, digital, video, chat, phone and in-person demonstration environments to effectively contact, sell to, and manage our customers

  • Support outside sales teams and customers with producing quotations, communication, and coordination to support teams outside the office

  • Work closely with the customer service team to ensure customer deliveries, RMAs and queries are answered promptly

About The Candidate

Our ideal candidate brings a wealth of broad business development experience and should possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of technical sales experience in research markets with a proven track record of success is preferred

  • Relevant work experience with spectroscopy or scientific measurement equipment is preferred

  • Trained in process oriented sales techniques (Sandler, Challenger, etc.) and tools is preferred

  • Experience with Salesforce, Office 365, and Oracle are helpful

  • Self-starter with track record of exceptional performance and goal achievement

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Desire to work in a competitive yet collaborative environment with the capacity to quickly learn about technical products and solutions

  • Excellent skills in planning, communications, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity

  • High standard of ethics and integrity

  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
