Summary:Works with customers, in person or on phone, in an effort to sell products or services offered by the company that fill current or future needs and solve customers' problems by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicates with the customer, either by phone or in person, to determine customer's concerns, problems or needs while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

  • Matches customer needs with W. W. Williams product and service offerings and proposes solutions, maximizing customer satisfaction and sales opportunities.

  • Identifies sales opportunities beyond current needs, provides customer with information to make informed decisions including the benefits of the purchase and obtains customer agreement to proceed with sale.

  • Uses extensive product knowledge, various computer software programs and supplier catalogs to identify exact parts needed and price and availability with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Emphasizes product features and benefits, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares orders for sales obtained.

  • Enters products sold into computer resulting in a thorough accounting of inventory levels and accurate customer invoices.

  • Recovers freight costs by following the current freight policy.

  • Processes customer payments in any of the acceptable forms, assuring that credit policies are observed when credit is the chosen payment method.

  • Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.

  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's inventory and stock delivery schedules.

  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries. Expedites urgent orders based on customer's instructions.

  • Builds and maintains customers relationships.

  • Makes sales calls either by phone or in person to potential and existing customers to qualify leads and sell products and services.

  • Works with outside sales representatives to fill customer needs, keep customer commitments and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, including forwarding potential sales leads via SalesLogix.

  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.

  • Assists in setting appropriate stocking levels by reporting stocking problems or opportunities.

  • Successfully completes all ongoing supplier-provided parts training and maintains all supplier and company required certifications.

  • Takes advantage of every opportunity made available to increase parts knowledge through attendance at meetings, seminars and schools.

  • Performs other duties in the Parts Department when requested.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and parts manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers and/or fellow employees of the company in a professional manner.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, mark-up and gross margins. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SX.enterprise, Suppliers' Inventory Systems to include Allison's SAP system and DDC's DIBS system, and SalesLogix.

Certificates and Licenses:

Guild Membership or other recognized professional parts marketing or sales association, when applicable.
