What you will do

The Inside Sales Manager is part of our Building Solutions, North America business at Johnson Controls. This position can be located in either Milwaukee, WI, Houston, TX or Dallas, TX.

The Inside Sales Manager will lead a team of experienced inside sales employees who make outbound calls as well take inbound calls relating to HVAC, Security and Fire equipment and services. The goal is to drive profitable growth with a focus on service revenue by leading the team to add value to our customers and upsell products and services.

The Inside Sales Manager will report directly into the Director of Inside Sales. This leadership position will work with the larger team to generate revenue through programs/promotional campaigns. The Inside Sales team will be responsible to achieve established goals, and success will be tied to the team's performance.

How you will do it

The Inside Sales Manager will be responsible for holding the team accountable to sales activities and KPIs. Empower and coach the sales team on prioritization, customer engagement, and skill development. Serve as an escalation point for support, help remove roadblocks, and coach employees by demonstrating selling behaviors. Manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong planning, organization, and time management skills required. Person will be customer-focused and understand that internal and external collaboration drives success and best practice.

  • Drive the selling of services and digital offerings to JCI customers and prospects

  • Communicate business vision and priorities to the team

  • Develop team-level forecast, partnering with team members to drive their activity and results

  • Lead team stand-ups to present KPI progress and share best practices

  • Join team member's side-by-side to shadow customer calls and deliver feedback

  • Coach team members on long term skill and career development

  • Upskill the team by leading relevant trainings and supporting team member participation in ongoing education opportunities relevant to their role

  • Serve as a thought leader for Inside Sales best practices, tools, and processes/procedures

  • Provide input on each team member's progress for the purpose of performance evaluations

  • Nurture collaborative relationships with our local and national sales teams, reporting to leadership

  • Drive performance culture and motivate the team through recognition/gamification/contests

  • Drive accountability and performance while managing a hybrid team

What we look for

Required

  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience and at least 3 years managing a team (customer service/inside sales management preferred)

  • Solid understanding of inside sales concepts, practices, and procedures

Preferred

  • Four-year college degree preferred

  • Strong experience leading an inside sales teams preferably within a Security, Fire, HVAC, Technology or Software environment.

  • Proven experience of managing sales portfolio of at least $5M annually

  • Demonstrated ability and desire to coach, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve goals

  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with MSOffice suite including Excel

  • Entrepreneurial attitude, leadership ability and ability to be a team player at all levels

  • Ability to understand a supply chain for various industries and its component companies

  • Ability to understand and contribute to the development of a business plan, including sales and marketing strategies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
