The pay range for this position is between $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Position Overview

As an integral member of the Sales and Business Development team at Argonaut, the Inside Sales & Business Development Associate is a critical contributor to the sales funnel and is responsible for driving and optimizing Argonaut's lead development and management processes for the drug product business unit. This individual is responsible for facilitating incremental growth by researching, identifying, and effectively targeting new drug product business opportunities and subsequently delivering qualified opportunities to the sales team. The position provides excellent growth opportunities, with a clear path into sales & business development for the drug product business unit.

This role is Monday - Friday 8 hours/day (excluding lunch break). Overtime, weekends and holidays may be required. Flexible start time between 8:00 am and 9:00 am with a consistent schedule. Exceptions to the schedule must be approved by the manager in advance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as a first point of contact to prospective customers, identifying their needs and aligning them with internal capabilities and resources across Argonaut's development and manufacturing network

  • Utilize lead generation platforms and subscriptions to continually generate new business opportunities

  • Manage leads from multiple sources to deliver qualified opportunities to the field Sales & Business Development teams

  • Engage with field Sales & Business Development staff for development and execution of prospect lists and territory plans

  • Execute targeting campaigns to support directed lead generation for identified capabilities or company profiles

  • Support marketing initiatives, maximizing translation of inbound leads from marketing activities to qualified contacts and opportunities

  • Utilize the latest market and business intelligence tools to gain clear picture of the market and identify target markets for segmentation

  • Develop and maintain marketing trends and competitive service offerings and pricing

  • In conjunction with the regional sales & business development team, assist in generating sales strategies to sell Argonaut's entire portfolio of services

  • Responsible for initiating necessary legal documentation to allow for progression of lead qualification activities (e.g. CDAs)

  • With the sales team, help to coordinate and support client visits to Argonaut facilities

  • Promote customer awareness of Argonaut's technologies and services

  • Continually improve target profiling, prioritization, and qualification criteria used for Lead Management

  • Collaborate with Sales & Business Development staff to effectively identify qualified opportunities which meet the business unit's strategic goals

  • Promote customer service excellence through appropriately timed hand-off of qualified opportunities

  • Establish and maintain a complete knowledge of supported site and technology capabilities (as well as relevant SME's)

  • Assist the Sales & Business Development team in advancing new opportunities, in the form of quote requests (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), leads, prospective client visits, and all regional/national conferences

  • Assist/lead the development and upkeep of Argonaut's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, including management/analysis of proposal deal structure/timing and pipeline development (in conjunction with supervisor).

  • Follow up on leads that come in from marketing activities (journals, website, calls, tradeshows, etc.)

  • Maintain a working knowledge of overall company capabilities to drive collaboration across and within business units

  • Comply with Argonaut sales operations and reporting processes and tools

  • Plans and implements a detailed, cohesive, and actionable sales strategy for acquisition and management of business opportunities from life science and diagnostics companies within assigned territories and business segments

  • Represents Argonaut by attending trade shows, industry events, and conferences and maintains active membership and participation in industry trade groups and networking events.

  • Organization, execution, and leadership of a consistent and efficient process for lead management and development within the defined sales territory

  • Build brand awareness of Argonaut's service offering, technologies, and customer service excellence through appropriately timed hand-off of qualified opportunities for new and existing customers.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • BS/BA in a scientific field of study (or equivalent).

  • Sales/business development experience a plus

  • Distinct knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industries and the contract services (CMO/CDMO) market

  • Proficient in the use of a CRM platform and related tools to support the new business development process (e.g. SalesForce, Microsoft Dynamcs, Hubspot)

  • Strong understanding of sales performance metrics and the ability to utilize these to drive strategies and tactics in lead generation

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely within all levels of the organization to foster collaboration, drive alignment, and achieve results

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.

  • Understanding of new technologies and trends in the biopharmaceutical industries

  • Ideally fluent in the drug development processes and have prior exposure to commercialization of both in the CMO service market

  • Resilient, independent highly self‐motivated, and self‐directed

  • Can delegate, hold other functions accountable, can escalate as needed, and without distraction from primary scope of responsibilities

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines

  • Up to 10% travel as needed to support Argonaut at conferences, tradeshows, and client meetings
