What is Inside Sales at Medidata?

Inside Sales is remote sales. It has been called virtual sales, professional sales done remotely, or a common favorite, "sales in the cloud." The inside sales model is often very cost-effective and has become more so thanks to advances in sales technology. The inside sales model allows us to interact with a high volume of accounts. Once on a call, Inside Account Executives (IAE's) can enjoy smart conversations thanks to contextual data about prospects that can be delivered from a CRM, marketing tools, and other types of cloud-based sales software. The use of modern technologies such as video and web conferencing has transformed the concept of "selling over the phone".

Your Mission:

The IAE is responsible for achieving booking, revenue, & profit objectives within their assigned account territories, including identifying sales opportunities through daily prospecting, qualifying opportunities, and efficiently leveraging Medidata resources in order to bring opportunities to successful conclusion. Inside Sales Account Executives create and build consultative, long-term relationships with their customers in order to create tailored, cost effective solutions. Personal involvement in customer relationships and high levels of customer satisfaction are essential in order to remain consistent with Medidata business principals.

Your Commitments:

  • Daily outbound calling through established campaigns to prospective customers / prospects

  • Consistent attainment of booking, revenue, and profit targets within assigned territory

  • Attainment of daily, weekly, quarterly productivity metrics

  • Establish and expand relationships with "C-Level" decision makers within customer / prospect organizations. Maintain well-coordinated internal relationships with key decision makers

  • Educate prospects on Medidata's value proposition and solution portfolio

  • Develop external relationships with Medidata partners / CRO's

  • Development and execution of sales plan as it relates to developing a new book of business / newly assigned territory

  • Directly responsible for closing sales transactions with clients and prospects

  • Partner with Market Development Specialists to close mid-market lead opportunities

  • Coordination of resources within sales and other departments in order to achieve objectives

  • Maintaining and updating sales plans, account and opportunity data within company systems as directed, including Salesforce.

  • Build customer loyalty, provide an excellent experience, achieve retention rates

  • Weekly / monthly / quarterly Pipeline forecasting

  • Complete administrative work as required

Your Competencies, Education, & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of previous tech / software sales experience preferred

  • Demonstrated consistent track record in exceeding sales targets

  • Demonstrated consistent tenacity and drive to achieve goals

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of computer usage in a web-based environment

  • Demonstrated success with process approached selling

  • Ability to gain executive credibility, understand organizational political dynamics and competitive awareness

  • Strong business planning and organizational skills

  • Solid analytical and technical skills

  • Self-motivated, able to assume responsibility, and work in a professional team environment

  • Application software sales experience a plus

  • Bachelors Degree in the Life Sciences, Business or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent relevant sales experience

Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.(sm) The primary responsibility of the Senior Account Executive, Specialty Benefits, is to work with the AE/SAE to promote specialty product sales and persistency in the marketplace. The AE will be accountable for delivering the specialty sales goal for the assigned market and will be involved in external marketing and be a subject matter expert to promote specialty employer paid and voluntary products. These positions will be aligned with the market segment, defined as 51 to 5,000 lives. This role is focused on external and internal activities to support the specialty sales goal including: * Being responsible for full oversight of the specialty sale at the direction of the AE/SAE to achieve health plan market sales goals and maintain profitability * Advocate for specialty voluntary products to support increase in enrollment and size of sale and negotiate based on broker/customer feedback with underwriting; leveraging rate bank, product discount programs and packaged savings to leverage the best value to the customer * Consult with distribution partners and AE/RAC/SAE on strategy calls related to specialty products and process and develop and/or deliver finalist and large broker presentations as specialty subject matter expert Primary Responsibilities: * Conduct in-depth presentations in market * Create and drive strategies for top specialty producing agencies and Brokers * Collaborate with Sales Management and/or Health Plan leadership regarding pipeline, persistency, market objectives and develop competitive strategies with specific Brokers / General Agents * Work collaboratively with distribution partners and AE/RAC/SAE to support sales, product and process education, and training on employer paid and voluntary specialty products. This position works collaboratively with Generalist AE on external sales calls representing ancillary product offerings * Conduit for communication on specialty topics including marketing initiatives that AE/RAC/SAE should be promoting (i.e. product updates, bonus programs, rate cards, drip marketing, etc.) * Educates sales support on quoting plan designs & product pre-implementation * Develop business relationships with distribution partners and AE/RAC/SAE as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor in order to increase specialty sales * Assisting AE/RAC/SAE in developing sales proposals, including anticipating competing products and distinguishing UHC's products from those competing products * Product Knowledge * Solid knowledge of all products sold in their market segment, including competitive products; applies independent judgment to recommend products for a given customer's situation You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
