This opportunity is for a full-time Inpatient Licensed Therapist working on our General Adult Unit.

Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients.

What do Licensed Therapists do at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services?

The Licensed Therapist is responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. Licensed Therapists are responsible for interviewing patients and developing the psychosocial history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and treatment summaries.

Licensed Therapists act as the patient and family primary contact during the patient's stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team. Licensed Tehrapists conduct psychoeducational therapy groups and are the primary individual responsible for discharge planning activities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults.

Required Education:

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related human services field.

Required Experience:

One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with adolescents and/or adults. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these; abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy. Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.

Required Licensure/Certification:

Current license from the State of North Carolina (LCMHC / LCMHCA, LCSW / LCSWA, LMFT / LMFTA)

Required Skills:

Good verbal and written communication skills in order to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, adolescents, adults and patient families in a clear and concise manner.

Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems. Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan. Employees assigned to adolescents must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and developmental stages and must possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.

Physical Requirements:

Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone.

Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.

Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
