POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, administers Physical Therapy services and care to patients per physician#s orders.

Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.# Coordinated family involvement in treatment of the patient. EDUCATION/TRAINING: Completion of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current license from the State of Illinois or in the process of acquiring licensure per department policy.# BLS/CPR certification required. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job, specific competencies and skill verification tools required.# Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Administers routine treatment procedures in accordance with treatment plan established and delegated by Physical Therapist following standard protocol. Assists Physical Therapist in evaluating treatment effects for assigned patients. Assists with the supervision of technicians, students and volunteers in providing support functions. Addresses patient needs for other services by recommending referrals to other disciplines as necessary.


Functions as an advocate for appropriate multidisciplinary services and resources during stay and in preparation for discharge

Educates patients, family and other health care providers on appropriate care modifying activities considering learner#s needs and capabilities and conducts on-going educational programs as required.# Accurately documents patient information and treatment following department policies and maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.
