The Boeing Enterprise Product Security Engineering (PSE) Functional Office is seeking an experienced, independent, highly motivated Innovations Strategy Project Engineer (Associate, Mid-Level or Senior) to join our Centralized Engineering Innovations team. This is a hybrid position located in Hazelwood, MO; Arlington, VA; El Segundo, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; Mountain View, CA; Huntsville, AL; Mesa, AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Colorado Springs, CO; or Titusville, FL.

In this position you will have the opportunity to influence the future of Boeing products working within the fields of Cybersecurity Testing Environments, Advanced Cybersecurity Assessments, and Cybersecurity and Resiliency Tooling.

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of programs by effectively managing technical data, facilitating technical interchange meetings, and collaborating with key stakeholders. The individual in this role will work closely with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to decompose programs into achievable milestones and technical demonstration to project progression.

Additionally, the Innovations Project Engineer will be responsible for maintaining project progression material, tracking performance to plan, and working with customers and key stakeholders to align project transition. Furthermore, this role requires interfacing with academia to leverage their expertise and resources.

A successful candidate will highlight their interest and technical knowledge in software and system security, supporting system and software development, and transition to use. Candidates will highlight their experience working in team environments, managing the interrelationships of teams through emotional intelligence insights, and communicating difficult technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of experience and expertise. They are also detail-oriented, highly motivated, independent, and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, inter-personal, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary project and environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Intake Technical Data and Build Program Execution Plans:

  • Work with lead engineer and technical SMEs to gather and analyze technical data of performing project.

  • Identify key milestones, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure successful program implementation.

  • Develop comprehensive program execution plans and identify and align transition to programs.

  • Collaborate with Technical SMEs and Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with technical SMEs to decompose programs into manageable tasks and deliverables.

  • Engage with key stakeholders to drive out task completion, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timelines.

  • Build Program Charts and Track Performance:

  • Develop program charts, including Gantt charts or other visual representations, to illustrate program timelines and dependencies.

  • Continuously monitor and track program performance against the plan, identifying and addressing any deviations or risks.

  • Facilitate Technical Interchange Meetings and Drive Process Documentation:

  • Organize and lead technical interchange meetings to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Document meeting outcomes, decisions, and action items to ensure effective communication and accountability.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation to streamline program execution and enhance efficiency.

  • Work with Customers for Initial Intake:

  • Engage with customers during the initial intake process to understand their requirements, expectations, and constraints.

  • Collaborate with customers to define program objectives, scope, and success criteria.

  • Align project milestones to effectively transition project to best support customer needs

  • Interface with Academia:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with academic institutions to leverage their expertise, research, and resources.

  • Collaborate with academia to explore innovative solutions, foster research collaborations, and support knowledge transfer.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience in engineering, computer science and/or cybersecurity

  • Experience factoring and applying confidentiality, integrity, and availability considerations in all phases of the system development lifecycle

  • Experience with understanding, developing and communicating architecture of complex systems

  • Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams

  • Ability to operate with a strategic mindset and tactical execution

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in cybersecurity testing, penetration testing, binary exploitation

  • Understanding and knowledge of safety-critical platforms and embedded systems, such as those found in ground vehicles and aircraft

  • Exposure to IOT or embedded product and cybersecurity systems analysis, design, development, and testing

  • Demonstrated performance in systems, electrical or computer engineering, or related fields, operating through part or all of the engineering lifecycle of a product

  • An understanding of requirements definition, subsystem allocation, and integration testing, and knowledge of avionics or embedded computing and communications systems

  • Experience in agile software development methodologies and containerized software

  • Understanding of Concept of Operations, requirements, and use-case development

  • Participation in software development competitions, capture-the-flag events, or contributions to open-source software

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate: $85,000 - $133,400

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $104,550 - $162,150

Summary pay range for Senior: $127,500 - $197,800
