Career Summary:

We are looking for a sharp, dedicated, and ambitious nurse scientist who will play a vital role in leading programmatic work and conduct research to inform and guide ANA Innovation initiatives. This candidate must have strong: technical skills, written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving skills, as well as exceptional follow-through and attention to detail. This work moves quickly, the candidate must be able to balance multiple projects and deadlines - a must. Position requires strong research skills, the ability to craft compelling narratives through written and data visualization, including story telling elements, a passion for research, a strong analytical mindset, robust data analytic capabilities, and a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape strong writing and presentation skills, data analysis. Innovation Scientist will partner with the VP of Innovation to advance the ANA vision and innovation initiatives internal and external to the ANA Enterprise. Reports directly to the VP of Innovation. Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis and Reporting

  • Have a strong point of view to discuss nursing, healthcare innovation, and research being done internal and external to ANA

  • Drives the development, evaluation, and improvement of ANA Enterprise innovation and operational initiatives, which will include the creation of new programs, products, and services.

  • Embrace and harness new technologies.

  • Evaluates and analyzes the effectiveness of operational priorities, programs, metrics, and strategic objectives to build department and organizational resilience through data analysis, surveys, and research.

  • Creates executive reports, metrics, and analysis to build outcome results.

  • Develops and maintains expert knowledge of programs, products, and services across the ANA Enterprise and utilizes current market intelligence, new methodologies, best practices, and industry research to maximize innovation initiatives.

  • Identifies emerging nursing, healthcare innovation, and research trends and technologies to drive programmatic work, projects, and communication.

  • Maintains understanding of and supports satisfying simultaneous competing priorities.

  • Advances ANA Innovation initiatives by applying advancements and innovations from education, research, innovation, and nursing practice.

  • Manages and oversees innovation programs, their outcomes, and communities of practices.

  • Provides operational support, analysis, reports, presentations, and high-quality outcomes.

  • Bring a strategic perspective to the variety of work that we do. Many of our initiatives involve strategic thinking based upon broad insights and strategic experience are desirable.

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of a range of projects, defining project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Programmatic Responsibilities, Research and Design

  • Develop and implement research methodologies to gather relevant data on innovation within the nursing profession. Design surveys, interviews, and other research instruments to collect valuable insights.

  • Collect and analyze data related to nursing innovation, including but not limited to surveys, case studies, and literature reviews. Utilize both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather comprehensive information.

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative research and surveys to assess effectiveness of nursing practice, innovation initiatives, nurse led innovation, including opportunities for grants, research funding, and dissemination across reports, articles, white papers, professional publication.

  • Facilitate innovation and research sessions to discover opportunities to advance the program, association, and its stakeholders.

  • Generate actionable insights based on research findings. Provide recommendations to the Innovation Team on potential areas for program development, resource curation, and support for nurse-led innovation.

  • Design educational content, events, resources, and materials to expand innovation and design thinking resources for programmatic initiatives and across the the ANA Enterprise.

  • Leads and supports innovation internally and externally by developing, transforming, and implementing quality outcomes, initiatives, and programs with strategic partners.

  • Facilitate and foster a sense of community among nurses interested in innovation. Organize events, forums, and networking opportunities to connect nurses, encouraging knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Partners with the VP of Innovation to work across the ANA Innovation programmatic and team initiatives.

  • Communicates the vision and impact of the Innovation Department in daily work, as an active thought leader through marketing copy creation and review, content writing, publication, and public speaking.

  • Dissemination of all ANA Innovation programmatic work across social media.

  • Supports staff across the ANA Enterprise and the nursing profession by creatively solving problems, building programs, and connecting people and resources.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments as necessary within a multi-layered structure to support innovation priorities.

  • Manage and maintain team motivation and morale, offering emotional and logistical support.

  • Works closely with innovation designer, innovation lead, the innovation strategist, and external partners to align with programmatic and strategic goals

External Partnerships and Corporate Relationships

  • Establishes and maintains external relationships as needed to support and advance ANA's Innovation work. This

  • could include collaboration and coordination with nurses, nursing organizations, industry experts, corporate

  • sponsors, and national organizations to align and develop research partnerships.

  • Collaborates across the ANA Enterprise, and with industry experts, corporate sponsors, and national

  • organizations to develop the strategy and partnerships required to support the ANA Innovation vision and

  • initiatives.

  • Integrates ANA Innovation communities of practice into ANA Enterprise strategic initiatives

  • Help to plan events, forums, and networking opportunities to connect nurses, encouraging knowledge-sharing

  • and collaboration

  • Coach and consult inside and outside the organization to further the mission and vision of the ANA Enterprise.

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required to do so.

Education

  • A Master's or Doctoral prepared degree required, preferably in Nursing.

  • Degree or Certificate in Business or Design related field preferred.

Related Work Experience

  • Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research within the healthcare sector.

  • Facilitate and foster a sense of community among nurses interested in innovation. Organize events, forums, and networking opportunities to connect nurses, encouraging knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.

  • Knowledge of healthcare policies, nursing practices, and innovation trends.

  • Proficiency in research tools, statistical analysis software, and data visualization tools.

  • Deep experience facilitating design, process improvement, and collaborating events.

  • Experience with communicating and content creation across multi-modal platforms (print, digital, social, video, podcast, etc.).

  • Experience working with transdisciplinary teams and managing projects and project team members.

  • Background in community building, communication needs, and in design and systems thinking.

  • Professional publication, research, and grant experience

Work Schedule:

Hybrid employees must work a minimum of 20% in the office.
