Innovation Research Analyst

Description & Requirements

The Innovation Research Analyst role will serve to assist in completing key initiatives in the areas of researching and analyzing innovation technologies, market trends, and industry developments to help qualify prospective firm innovation opportunities. This individual will execute against prioritized tasks based on opportunities to help the firm expand their awareness and understanding, help make more informed strategic decisions, and continue to foster proactive innovation across the firm.

How you will contribute:

Present and share relevant findings of research to facilitate conversations and connect opportunities for possible firm pursuit

Investigate industries and service lines of the firm to best understand common problems, competitive landscape, emerging trends, and other useful insights that might spark new ideation opportunities within the industry

Analyze opportunities with multiple variable options for considerations around each option and provide recommended course of action where applicable

Perform research projects and analysis on new ideas entering the innovation pipeline for problem validation, competitive landscape, market sizing, and business recommendations

Own analysis and research in potential asset opportunities related to patents and IP protections

Create and present strategic options for viable business models with 3rd party relationships

Provide analysis and research into prospective M&A, JV, or partnership vendor opportunities when entities have been identified

Facilitate a research exchange forums for sharing recommendations to Innovation leadership and industry strategy partners and stakeholders in order to stay competitive and differentiated in the markets we serve

Evaluate competitor strategies in response to changing customer preferences and roadmap and assess their potential impact on the organization

Based on the current and ever evolving Innovation product portfolio, monitor competitors' activities, product launches, and technological advancements to inform Innovation leadership on strategic responses that may be required

Assist in the crafting of business case proposals for further investment in digital or hardware solutions for the benefit of the firm

Assist in betas and proof concept exercises to test the usability of prospective digital and hardware solutions to the firm

Find moments for proactive versus reactive identification of opportunities that maintains a balanced backlog of innovation and growth research projects

Analyze data from various sources, including industry reports, patents, academic papers, market intelligence platforms and internal subject matter expert engagements to synthesize information into actionable insights

Conduct in-depth research on emerging technologies and solutions, disruptive trends, and market dynamics at a macro level to help educate and inform firm leaders and assess their relevance to the organization's goals

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in solution development, innovation management and/or research and analysis disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, entrepreneurship, engineering (multiple specialties), business, business administration, economics, information technology, business analysis, or a related study, or equivalent experience
