JOB TITLE: Injection Molding Utility

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing Injection Molding

REPORT TO: Production Supervisor

WAGE CATEGORY Hourly/Non-Exempt


Reporting to Production Supervisor, the Injection Molding Utility is responsible to maintain injection mold equipment and processes to produce a first-time quality part. Will assist with die changes as scheduled and provide support to production processes in the molding department.


  • Assist with die changes quickly and efficiently as scheduled per Kanban; including mold prep, material change, documentation, line clear and equipment placement.

  • Move production components within the department

  • Perform in-machine mold cleaning as necessary

  • Transport molds between racks and machines

  • Relieve operators for manual operations

  • Fill dryers and clean grinders

  • Perform process checks for proper machine operation

  • Answer machine alarms and resolve when possible

  • Support process technician as a team member to ensure quality products are produced as scheduled.

  • Perform department 5S requirements

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Will assist in making sample parts

  • Create work orders for die cleaning and repair

  • Check and distribute proper documentation

Authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct a quality problem when involved in quality functions related to the production process.


  • High School or GED required; continuing education/technical degree a plus

  • Prefer minimum of two years experience in injection molding

  • Knowledge of SPC


  • Position requires standing, sitting, bending and/or stretching

  • Position requires lifting of up to 50 lb., several times per day

  • Commitment to OAC injection molding internal training for additional skillsets

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Title Injection Molding Team Leader Department Manufacturing Report to Production Group Leader Category Hourly, non-exempt Summary The Department Team Leader is responsible to provide daily support to production operators to ensure production and quality targets are met. Provide operators with the necessary tools to carry out assigned job functions. Support and encourage company goals and continuous improvements. Will be responsible to operate and/or service equipment as needed to meet production requirements. Functions & Essential Duties Leadership * Verify manning, material and equipment at shift start up * Verify kanban is being followed as issued * Instill the importance of first-time quality to production operators * Meet with shift team leaders to discuss issues or concerns related to production * Procure needed supplies and materials to support production * Provide assistance as needed to operators to attain production and quality objectives * Support company decisions and objectives in a positive manner * Practice fair and consistent policy and procedure administration Administrative * Use SAP and all applicable documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy of production * Support 5-S efforts to ensure that organization and housekeeping are maintained * Submit all required operator training documents to Group Leader in a timely manner * Provide input to GLs during semi-annual and introductory period evaluation process * Communicate with Group Leaders regarding operator quality, productivity and/or safety concerns * Check Kanban board and report any concerns to group leader * Authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct a quality problem related to the production process Daily Responsibilities * Conduct visual quality checks on all parts every 4 hours * Utilizing checklist, verify and sign off that changeovers have been properly completed and machine is operating at optimal settings * Verify and sign off on the IM Team Leader Daily Check Sheet * Monitor and verify that housekeeping is being conducted as assigned and address any inconsistencies * Troubleshoot machines and assist operators when needed * Fill in for operator in their absence as needed Education and Required Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Continuing education preferred * Minimum of 2 years of proven team lead/leadership experience preferred * Knowledge of TS16949 quality system preferred * General understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures Skills * Must possess computer skills to navigate in Word, Excel, and Outlook * Pro-active problem solving skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Basic mathematical skills * Strong interpersonal skills * Must be able to operate or be trained to operate a fork lift * Must have ability to read, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication to accomplish responsibilities * Must have ability to follow written and verbal communication * Must have basic understanding of metric system * Must have basic understanding of measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers and weight scales Physical Requirements * Ability to lift up to 40 lbs pounds without assistance * Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift * Ability to safely climb and descend a ladder * Ability to stoop (squat) to floor level and stand again, multiple times per shift * Ability to effectively hold and utilize small hand tools and fasteners * Ability to visually detect small defects in production parts or materials * Must be able to hear buzzers, horns, and/or warning signals emitted by production equipment or alarms Safety * Adhere to and practice all company safety policies and procedures, including lock out tag out * Report unsafe conditions or other safety related issues immediately * Use required PPE at all times * Follow ISO-14001 procedures related to company policy * Ensure that operators are using equipment safely and not bypassing sensors, guards, etc Department Manager ___________________________ Date ______________ Oiles America Corporation Concord NC
