Within the organization PCG has a project team dedicated to providing Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and advocacy work for low income Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and foster care agencies throughout the country. This project team is referred to as our Social Security Advocacy Management Service SSAMS team. The SSAMS team's projects include the identification, development, application and representation of and post entitlement claims at all levels of the adjudication process including attending hearings with our clients before Administrative Law Judges and SSA post entitlement work.
Public Consulting Group is seeking an Initial Reconsideration Developer. He/She will work closely with Social Security, Disability Determination Services (DDS), Social Workers and foster care parents in the continued development and documentation of foster care children's SSI claims while pending a decision. The Initial Reconsideration Developer will be responsible for requesting additional medical and school information and forwarding the information on to DDS. He/She will also provide an analysis of denied claim to determine if an appeal is necessary. Initial Reconsideration Developer will also facilitate children attending any appointment required by SSA.
Heavy client contact through phone calls and emails.
Handle client inquiries both telephonically and by email.
Request medical, physiological, school and work records.
Identify proper forms and obtain signatures on all the required forms and documentation.
Maintain regular contact with the client to assure customer satisfaction and to obtain updated medical and vocational information.
Provide monthly reporting statistics to the Project Manager for designated area of responsibility.
Proper telephone etiquette including customer relation techniques.
Understanding of modern office methods and practices and be efficient with computers.
Proper usage of English language including grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
Strong Interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with federal, state and county agencies as well as the general public.
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
Knowledge and understanding of SSA's medical, mental and vocational criteria's
Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between SSI/SSDI and Medicaid/ Medicare
Ability to interpret and execute requests from SSA, DDS, ODAR and State personnel.
Ability to maintain a record keeping and follow-up system and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
An Associate's degree or 2 years relevant experience.
Medical and/or Social Service background preferred.
