Pollens footprint in North America has grown exponentially in 2018/2019 so we are recruiting to our Legal team!

Managing risk is what Pollens legal team is all about - wed like to maintain a positive reputation and to avoid being sued. As we grow, in terms of businesses, revenue and employees, ensuring were conducting our US businesses in full compliance with all North American laws and regulations (and assistance on worldwide regulation) is becoming increasingly important.

Pollens legal team (which is currently three individuals - GC and senior paralegal in London and Head of Legal, North America in Vegas) provides commercial and timely legal support to a rapidly growing, international, VC-backed scale-up. The Pollen environment is fast-paced, highly engaging and expanding.

As Pollen has offices in both Los Angeles and in Vegas, we're flexible re: location!

In the next six months you will focus on:

  • Compliance - prioritize our North American State/Federal compliance for the Pollen group including but not limited to:
    • Business registrations in all required States;
    • Foreign entity registrations in all required States;
    • Seller of Travel in relevant States;
    • Filing of annual reports, tax returns, updates to officers/directors;
    • DBAs;
    • CCPA; and
    • Research - determining where further registrations are required, changes in upcoming laws.
  • Learning as much as you can about our business - how else can you be an effective member of the team if you dont understand what we properly do?
  • Employment law - we have a strong North American People team, and with a growing number of employees in California, Vegas and remote workers, there are always ad-hoc matters of employment law arising.
  • Commercial contracts drafting and reviewing and updating templates;
  • Transactional assistance - on an as and when needs basis
  • And tonnes of other stuff - being in-house at Pollen means that youll be facing lots of things youve probably never looked at before so embracing a wide range of legal issues makes for a consistently interesting workflow.

Requirements

  • Proactive, ready to roll up your sleeves and tackle legal (and non-legal) issues youve not faced before - we dont expect you to be an expert in everything (were certainly not!) but we do expect you to be intensely curious, keen to learn and to be challenged.
  • Able to focus on the more relevant topics/key risks of each task and prioritise your time accordingly - were all super busy and time-crunched and we cant spend hours reviewing each contract.
  • Accurate and have a high attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task - the Pollen Legal team supports multiple teams within the entire business so youll get used to context-switching.
  • An excellent team worker
  • Not scared to ask questions!
