Position Summary Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager and Infusion Center Coordinator, the Infusion Center Registered Nurse provides direct patient care. The Registered Nurse collaborates with patients, family/significant others, peers, physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to patients. The Infusion Center Registered Nurse assesses patients needs, plans care, implements and evaluates the medical and nursing regimens in accordance with the hospital and Infusion Center philosophy, policies/procedures and standards. He/she demonstrates a great deal of flexibility, leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Shows flexibility in job responsibilities and function to insure the appropriate care for the outpatient infusion center patients Utilizes the nursing process to meet the age specific needs of the patient in all aspects of care: biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/ environment and discharge planning including referrals to appropriate community resources Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit-based issues. Addresses issues with appropriate actions Collaborates and communicates with the health care team, patients and families Integrates patient rights into work practice Utilizes and monitors methods of Infection Control Participates in the Performance Improvement initiatives Completes competency requirements Attends mandatory inservices Attends staff meetings as required/requested Utilizes cost containment practices Adheres to all WPHC policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual physicals Performs all other related duties as assigned Education Experience Requirements Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York registration or eligible for licensure (interim permit) Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices in rendering of patient care BCLS certification through the American Heart Association is required Three years RN experience is preferred Chemotherapy RN experience preferred Successful completion of Chemo-Bio course preferred Successful completion of Department and Unit Orientation Programs Core Competencies Clinical proficiency
