This is a REMOTE position and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

The infrastructure protection engineer will be a crucial member of the Information Technology team. This role will be primarily responsible for the architecture, engineering, technical support and process enforcement in the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure systems regarding the patch management process, infrastructure security baselines, ant-virus, and vulnerability management.

Essential Duties

ANTI-VIRUS/SECURITY BASELINES

Actively work with the core infrastructure, IT security compliance, and cyber security teams to ensure that all endpoints are covered from an Anti-virus perspective.
Design, create, and monitor security baselines for all endpoints using device management toolset such as SCCM or Intune.
Work with application owners, field support, and help desk technicians to understand overall environment and how AV or security policies may affect production.

PATCH MANAGEMENT

Govern the adherence to IT Security Policies regarding patch management throughout the enterprise
Actively engages in work streams related but not limited to reporting and remediation and/or coordinating the remediation of assessment results
Management of patching solution for all Infrastructure (Windows and Linux patching) respectively; collection maintenance, reporting services, applying best practices and delivering enterprise patch management
Planning and executing software pushes using approved enterprise patch management software
Reporting and fix failed patches weekly/monthly. Provide status of software pushes
Developing checklists, guides, best practices and procedures to support patch management process
Stay informed regarding advances in patch management technologies, configuration and administration

Qualifications

Minimum of bachelor's degree.Prefer Computer Science.
Previous experience with utilizing industry best practices for patch management in a tiered access environment.
Strong skill set with patch management and package distribution across on-premises and cloud hosted assets
General understanding of various Operating systems for workstations and servers.
Familiarity with Microsoft Defender ATP and/or other Enterprise AV solutions.
Knowledge of Shell scripting (WMI, PowerShell) is a big plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) Consultant's role's primary focus is to build solutions and products to help Nationwide IT move and live in Cloud. Provide support for application teams to move to Cloud in addition to helping them uplift their AWS knowledge are additional responsibilities of this role. This person will work from a centralized team responsible for maintaining day to day operations of cloud environments in addition to being involved with creating AWS products for our developers to use such as Serverless products, CI/CD Platform and CodePipeline. The CIE is building Nationwide's next generation infrastructure using public cloud technology (AWS, Azure, etc.). The successful candidates for this position will have a passion for agile/scrum execution, automation (hands on keyboard), DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, and creating the guardrails necessary to enable self-service to cloud infrastructure through CI/CD pipelines. We are looking for someone with at least 2 year of hands on AWS experience in a multi-account enterprise environment (Azure experience is a plus). This person will have the ability to design and implement solutions in Cloud that are scalable, secure, and cost efficient. We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of Role Based Access Control and how it is implemented. This candidate will also have in-depth knowledge of security principals and services/products available to log, audit, and enforce them. We are looking for someone with a strong breadth of technical knowledge spanning multiple platforms (ex: network, database, storage, messaging, web services, Linux and Windows operating systems, etc.). Other required experience: * Experience with the authoring, managing and the deployment of Policies. * History of managing 'infrastructure as code' using development/deployment principals and configuration management methodologies. * Experience leveraging AWS cloud native serverless technologies (Lambda). * Experience with managing AWS resources, utilizing CloudFormation templates (JSON, YAML). * Experience designing, building and maintaining container environments (Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, etc.) * Familiarity with AWS governance best practices and common ways they are implemented. * Enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and on-premise infrastructure principals. * Scripting technologies (Python, GoLang, PowerShell, Bash).
