This is a REMOTE position and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities
The infrastructure protection engineer will be a crucial member of the Information Technology team. This role will be primarily responsible for the architecture, engineering, technical support and process enforcement in the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure systems regarding the patch management process, infrastructure security baselines, ant-virus, and vulnerability management.
Essential Duties
ANTI-VIRUS/SECURITY BASELINES
Actively work with the core infrastructure, IT security compliance, and cyber security teams to ensure that all endpoints are covered from an Anti-virus perspective.
Design, create, and monitor security baselines for all endpoints using device management toolset such as SCCM or Intune.
Work with application owners, field support, and help desk technicians to understand overall environment and how AV or security policies may affect production.
PATCH MANAGEMENT
Govern the adherence to IT Security Policies regarding patch management throughout the enterprise
Actively engages in work streams related but not limited to reporting and remediation and/or coordinating the remediation of assessment results
Management of patching solution for all Infrastructure (Windows and Linux patching) respectively; collection maintenance, reporting services, applying best practices and delivering enterprise patch management
Planning and executing software pushes using approved enterprise patch management software
Reporting and fix failed patches weekly/monthly. Provide status of software pushes
Developing checklists, guides, best practices and procedures to support patch management process
Stay informed regarding advances in patch management technologies, configuration and administration
Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor's degree.Prefer Computer Science.
Previous experience with utilizing industry best practices for patch management in a tiered access environment.
Strong skill set with patch management and package distribution across on-premises and cloud hosted assets
General understanding of various Operating systems for workstations and servers.
Familiarity with Microsoft Defender ATP and/or other Enterprise AV solutions.
Knowledge of Shell scripting (WMI, PowerShell) is a big plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
