The IT Infrastructure Engineer - Enterprise Logging is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of Enterprise Logging tools, primarily ELK aka elastic stack. Experience, Internship or Course Work in IT Infrastructure preferred: Data Management, Systems Configuration, Networking and Storage.
Support, and maintain an existing on-premises ELK aka elastic stack infrastructure (CentOS) with both an operational and security focus
Build and configure new larger scale ELK infrastructure to handle increasing enterprise scale demand
Troubleshoot logstash problems and issues
Assist internal users of ELK in designing and maintaining production-quality dashboards
Mentor users and other groups on their use of ELK
Monitor server infrastructure for capacity planning and optimization
Conduct research related to projects and activities
Perform data analysis and assist in data reporting
Develop and deliver new feature and status presentations to leadership
BA/BS 0-2 years experience
6-8 years experience without degree in IT Infrastructure: Data Management, Systems Configuration, Networking and Storage.
Demonstrable Linux administration experience including:
Deployment and configuration of applications using automated scripts
File System Management
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, excellent organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize multiple activities and objectives to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to write effective technical documentation with attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of layered network architectures and data link protocols
Familiarity with DevOps workstyles Scrum or Kanban
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)
Ability to work on challenging problems in areas such as data storage, query optimization, JVM performance optimization and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving client needs
Search and Analytics software experience using Elasticsearch, Logstash & Kibana (ELK) and/or Splunk
Developing scripts for automated configurations using Ansible
Experience with cloud computing services such as AWS or Pivotal Cloud Foundry
Familiarity with NoSQL data stores Cassandra/CQL; MongoDB
Exposure to DevOps technologies like GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
