As an Infrastructure Configuration Consultant, within PNC's Data Center Facilities organization, you will be based in Ashburn, VA at the Ashburn Data Center. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager's discretion.

Job Description

• Manages the requirements for planning, organizing, and implementing enterprise-wide technology infrastructure and configuration management functions.

• Leads the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of major configuration changes from acquisition to termination.

• Oversees the effective implementation and use of the configuration management process, methodology, tools, procedures, and audit activities.

• Develops and publishes metrics to qualify and quantify configuration success; ensures that configuration practices are in compliance with standards.

• Ensures the accuracy and validity of the configuration database for content on assets, major infrastructure and platform components, system documentation and service components.

Competencies

Configuration Management

• Knowledge of and ability to manage the process, tools and techniques for managing hardware, software, communications, facilities and personnel that provide the organization's IT services.

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)

• Knowledge of and ability to apply ITIL processes and standards for managing the IT infrastructure.

IT Quality Assurance

• Knowledge of and the ability to utilize a variety of specific technical tools and testing methods to ensure the quality of IT production.

Performance Measurement and Tuning

• Knowledge of and the ability to monitor, measure, and optimize individual and combined utilization of hardware, software and telecommunications components.

Software Change Request Management

• Knowledge of, and experience with, managing product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.

Software Product Installation and Support

• Knowledge of, and experience in, helping customers install, integrate, and operationalize software products or systems.

System and Technology Integration

• Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems, and the ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Systems Software Infrastructure

• Knowledge of software technology, and the ability to plan global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
