Job Description:

Are you a skilled IT Architect with experience in maintaining complex computer information systems? This position is based in Salem and eligible for hybrid work with occasional travel to our offices in Bend and Charleston, Oregon.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, recommend, and promote infrastructure and security standards that meet the functional needs of the agency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the health and stability of the agency's core directory, authentication, monitoring services, and infrastructure.

This position is statewide and can be worked hybrid, reporting to our Salem office as needed. Occasional travel to our Bend Field office and South Slough Research Reserve in Charleston may be required. This is a full time, permanent position and is represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Working Conditions:

Much of the work is in a standard office environment and/or virtual setting and occasional travel may be required. At times, a fast-paced work environment with multiple demands. This position requires the ability to work on multiple tasks, sometimes under pressure of high priority deadlines with occasional exposure to hostile or upset people. Overnight stays and/or extended work hours may be required.

What you will be doing:

As our Infrastructure Architect, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with DSL technical support staff, Oregon natural resource agencies, and multiple vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems not solved by others in the escalation process.

  • Independently research problems with no apparent solution and communicate solutions to other team members.

  • Train and mentor IT staff at DSL on configuration, installation and repair of agency systems and components, and resolving problems that arise.

  • Create technical specifications and model processes in collaboration with colleagues, state agencies, partners, and vendors.

  • Assist with the evaluation of software and service options to create plans for secure connectivity of multiple vendor and agency software solutions.

  • Develop and maintain agency disaster plan for multiple remote locations with mixed environments.

  • Research and ensure data is protected in compliance with agency security policies.

  • Write and implement multi-site, multi-platform project plans for diverse business needs; review and evaluate RFP (Request for Proposal) responses.

Minimum Qualifications- to be considered for this position, please ensure you have one of the following combinations of education and/or experience:

Seven (7) years of information systems experience in: Information Technology.

OR

An associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field,

AND

5 years of information systems experience in Information Technology.

OR

A bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field,

AND

three (3) years of information systems experience in Information Technology.

OR

A master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field

AND

one (1) year of information systems experience in Information Technology.

  • Experience with implementing and administering Azure Active Directory Services, Active Directory (Forests, Domains, Trees and Trusts), including but not limited to: DNS, DFS, DHCP, Kerberos and/or Lightweight Directory Services, File and Print services, Group policies and Certificate authority.

  • Experience with administering and maintaining cloud solutions across multiple public/government cloud offerings such as AWS, Google Cloud and/or Microsoft Azure/M365 Cloud Services.

  • Knowledge of cloud security technologies and concepts including but not limited to: Azure Information Protection, Azure Security Center, and/or O365 Security.

  • Knowledge and experience with Identity Management Products. Understanding of modern Identity and Access Management concepts and best practices including but not limited to a firm understanding of identification, authentication and authorization of a person, or persons, to have access to applications and systems permissions.

  • Demonstrated expertise in scripting languages including but not limited to: VBScript, Perl and/or PowerShell.

  • Ability to plan and implement server virtualization and network infrastructure on-premises and in cloud.

  • Experience and knowledge in the following: Local area Networks (LAN) Wide Area Networks (WAN), Network Media, Routing and switching, TCP/IP and OSI models, IP addressing and subnetting, WAN technologies, and MPLS networks.
