Overall Responsibility

Development of Various Infotainment system components focused on Instrument Clusters


  • Actively collect and understand the functional ( hardware, software, & communication) requirements for infotainment system components

  • Research, propose, develop, and justify any new functions (hardware, software, HMI, etc.) to meet the market requirements

  • Develop, write, and issue specifications for parts/systems assigned

  • Create and manage the part development schedule with consideration to all parties (supplier, designers, overall vehicle development, etc.)

  • Manage the part supplier to achieve the development requirements on schedule

  • Perform all necessary vehicle testing (hardware & functional) to guarantee product acceptance for mass production

  • Write all necessary reports, presentations or technical documents to explain and/or a record of the development activities

  • Support factory, sales, etc. as required for product explanations, owner's manual reviews, manufacturing issues or market complaints

  • Perform market analysis and consider continuous improvement activity for current and future development


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 3-5 years automotive experience preferably with infotainment systems

  • Experience in project management (setting & managing schedules, meeting deadline, directing other groups to achieve development goals, etc.)

  • Ability to use common electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, ESD equipment, etc.)

  • Experience with CAN, LIN, and preferably MOST communication protocols

  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware test or vehicle function failures

  • Prefer working knowledge in ISO26262 Functional Safety Process

  • Ability to function independently on a day-to-day basis

  • Good organizational and multitasking skills

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Highly motivated and takes initiative

  • Ability to lift at minimum 50lbs

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-17T00:00 The dynamometer test technician will be responsible for the day-to-day support for testing automotive systems, sub-systems and components. Prepares full vehicles for testing and returns vehicle to pre-test condition after testing is complete. Installs and verifies test instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, shunts, flow meters, etc. Creates fixtures or parts modifications for specialized tests. Conducts basic equipment setup diagnostics and troubleshooting. Operates and modifies complex data acquisition equipment and analysis software as needed. Evaluates and confirms test data for accuracy and consistency. Potential for occasional travel to test locations as necessary overtime and afternoon shift work is required. The selected candidate will be required to become familiar and comply with Jacobs and Client policies for safety, security, and the rules associated with outside contractors working on-site. This position will have direct, daily interface with client engineering staff and external customers. Under direct supervision, the chassis dynamometer wind tunnel test technician will prepare and conduct standard and special tests on vehicle parts and full vehicle assemblies. This position requires a basic understanding of procedures and techniques in a trained area of expertise. Specific responsibilities include: * Manages test schedule and test equipment * Prepares, installs, and performs tests on vehicle assemblies, parts, and material samples * Fuel vehicles between tests * Troubleshoot and repair vehicle instrumentation * Install and remove vehicle components as needed to meet test requirements * Fabricate/modify parts and/or vehicles to meet design intent * Test and analyze parts by performing bench testing and testing on-vehicle * Troubleshooting design related problems and suggesting countermeasures * Compile and report test data to test requestor and supervisor * Collection and inventory control of test parts as directed * Read and learn test standards to ensure correct application of test methodology * Maintain testing equipment and keep testing space organized, clean, and safe * Source, purchase, and manage inventory of consumable test supplies Services will be delivered at a client facility in Raymond, Ohio. Minimum of 4 years' experience with testing (3 years' experience in testing using chassis dynamometers). Associates in Automotive Technology preferred. The following skills and attributes for the ideal candidate include, but are not limited to: * Well organized, self-motivation, and team player * Ability to balance multiple tasks of equal priority within the same timeframe (multitask) * Ability to control own schedule and complete tasks with limited supervision * Have good analytical and technical skills with a high level of attention to details * Working knowledge of automotive vehicles and vehicle systems * Experience with data acquisition systems and data analysis programs * Ability to develop and follow standard operating procedures; written and verbal instructions * A high mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience * Competent in use of general hand and machine shop tools to fabricate fixtures and mounting brackets * Perform welding, cutting or brazing (preferable) * Communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with customers and inter-department teammates * Complete tasks on-schedule or report delays and recovery plan to supervisor * Provide constructive feedback on tasks and the manner in which they are executed * Read and interpret technical literature and manufacturers' specifications * Proficient with PCs and common software, e.g. Microsoft Excel®, PowerPoint®, Word®, Outlook® or Lotus Notes, and Adobe Acrobat * Ability to follow safe working practices. * Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and other gear, as required. * Have and maintain a valid driver's license Jacobs Engineering Raymond OH
