This temporary, full-time, entry-level position is within the Information Technology department.

The individual who fills this position will be responsible for performing end user support activities for PC and Windows based systems. The incumbent will provide help desk support for end users and provide technical support in installing and configuring computer hardware and software programs. The incumbent must be able to travel to other office locations with potential overnight stays.

Position Description

Respond to help desk calls and e-mails, log computer problems, and assist with routine problems; problems that are not quickly resolved are escalated to the next level. Provide information and assistance to users on applications such as word processing and data entry.

Assist with providing end user training. Assist in the installation of upgrades or new or revised off-the-shelf/desktop releases. Set up, configure, install, and document hardware and software.

Provide support for mobile computing devices and remote access. General hardware maintenance upgrades and repairs. Responsible for assisting with IT inventory or disposal.

Creates and documents all actions, practices, procedures, and processes and submits regular status updates and reports to the Technology Team Leader. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification

Required Education/Work Experience: High school graduate or equivalent with at least two years of specialized IT experience equivalent to CL‐24 or higher.

Educational Substitutions: Education above the high school level may be substituted for required general experience based on one academic year (30 semester or 45 quarter hours) equals one year of general experience.

Candidate(s) must have general knowledge of computer, hardware, software and network infrastructure, knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), and knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to clearly explain technical terms and processes in non‐technical language. Ability to coordinate and manage diverse technical support tasks and multiple competing projects while adhering to stringent deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

Progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience that is in, or closely related to, the work of the information technology. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position involving the routine use of automated software and keyboarding for word processing, data entry and report generation.

Experience supporting desktops in a virtual environment. Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and administer printing, scanning and other multi-function networked devices. Sufficient experience supporting mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, laptops). Basic understanding of TCP/IP, Active Directory (user creation/deletion, password resets), and anti-virus concepts.

A successful candidate(s) must be mature, responsible, poised, organized, and meticulous. Must also possess integrity, tact, good judgment, initiative, and the ability to work with a wide variety of people with diverse backgrounds.

Ability to learn the basics of the PACTS Probation software system. Ability to follow detailed instructions and multitask.

Government.

An applicant must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States. Judiciary employees serve under excepted appointments (not civil service) and are "at will" employees and can be terminated with or without cause.

This position is subject to mandatory Electronic Funds Transfer for payment of net pay. This is a high‐sensitive level position within the Federal Judiciary. Occasional travel both within the district and outside the district will be required.
