Job Description:

The Defense Health Operation of Leidos is currently looking for Information Technology Support for the Operations Department at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate shall:

  • Maintain compliance with applicable security protocols.

  • Transfer paper-based records from external sources onto computerized systems.

  • Provide command Information Technology support duties as directed.

  • Man IT trouble call desk and work with customers in the laboratory on routine trouble calls.

  • Assist in installing, transferring, or removing computers on the network, within the laboratory.

  • Assist in imaging, troubleshooting, and resolving simple to moderate issues with desktop and/or laptop units.

  • Support Information Technology staff with developing procurement requests, track acquisitions to receipt.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science and 0-2 years of prior relevant experience preferred; however, significant IT-related experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 25 lbs. and climb stairs. Work may involve bending, stooping, and working in confined areas;

  • Microsoft Office skills

  • COMP TIA Security+ Certification is required within 6 months of employment

D460 is responsible for the resolution of design issues, trouble-shooting of construction problems, technical support for manufacturing operations, verification and certification of as-built dimensions and configurations, and implementation of process improvements. The department's main goal is to provide timely, high quality engineering support for all manufacturing, steel fabrication, and outfitting activities at the Electric Boat Quonset Point (EBQP) facility. In addition, engineers in D460 are exposed to various aspects of submarine design and construction which provides opportunities for continuous growth, leadership, and advancement as an engineer. Individuals selected for this position will be responsible for providing the structural technical support for submarine construction activities for VIRGINIA Class submarines at the EBQP facility. This position requires continued progression of technical and project management skills. The successful candidate is expected to help manage construction issues throughout steel fabrication, manufacturing, and outfitting organizations at the EBQP facility, and be able to communicate engineering assessment with Operations trade, planning, and ship's management organizations. They are also expected to relay shipyard priorities to appropriate engineering groups. Responsibilities: * Proactively assisting trade personnel overcome construction problems and facilitating implementation of design and process improvements * Adjudication of technical issues encountered during construction * Interpreting design/drawing/specification requirements * Providing clear and timely direction and/or evaluation to Quonset Point trades via disposition of Engineering Reports and TIR Unsats. * Answering Vendor Information Requests (VIRs) in support of vendor-built structures that were previously manufactured by EBQP trades or that will be installed by EBQP. * Performing engineering calculations for "as-built" configurations * Interfacing with trade personnel, management and on-site Customer (Navy) representatives Responsibilities * Candidate must be able to take initiative and work independently. * Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. * Candidate must be highly motivated and able to perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment. * Some travel may be necessary. Qualifications Required: * Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering (mechanical, aerospace, civil (structural), naval architecture, marine/ocean), or equivalent - by June 2022. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Access. * Less than 2 years of related engineering experience. * The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance. Preferred: * Previous internship or experience with providing deck-plate engineering construction support. * Familiarity with Electronic Desktop and JCALs. * Experience dispositioning Engineering Reports or Change Notices. * Experience with task or project management. * Previous submarine experience.
