Responsibilities

As a Information Technology Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as an Information Technology Specialist, responsible for participating in all aspects of operations and maintenance the Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS), the State Traffic Records Assessment Program (STRAP), and the Traffic Records Information Program Reporting System (TRIPRS).

  • Maintain the maintenance of the systems software, hardware, operations and maintenance, the development of system documentation for all division IT assets.

  • Support the mission and long-term objectives of the National Driver Register & Traffic Records (NDR&TR) IT systems and related statutory and regulatory obligations.

  • Work under the supervision of the NDR IT team lead to coordinate new system development activities via system/software planning and configuration management control processes.

  • Communicate with federal, state, local agency officials and private citizens explaining the concept, purpose and statutory regulations governing the NDR&TR's business operation.

NHTSA is looking for an Information Technology Specialist who is a highly self-motivated team player having extensive systems development experience working with high capacity IT systems, configuration management, and strong analytical skills. Capable to coordinate new system development activities via system/ software planning and configuration management control processes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.

To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-09 (or enter the next lower grade level for the series here), it must include:

  • Experience in Information Technology systems development, writing scripts and computer code.

  • Experience in Operations and Maintenance of high capacity/complex information technology systems.

To qualify for the GS-11on Education alone, you must have:

At least 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or have been awarded a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

You can also qualify based on a combination of graduate education and experience. This must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts, provided with your application.

To qualify on for the GS-12 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 or enter the next lower grade level for the series here), it must include:

  • Experience in Information Technology systems development life cycle (SDLC), systems analysis, development of systems modifications, writing scripts and computer code.

  • Experience in Operations and Maintenance of high capacity/complex information technology systems.
