Summary

Mission Statement

The Defense Security Service (DSS) strengthens national security at home and abroad through our security oversight and education operations. DSS oversees the protection of U.S. and foreign classified information and technologies in the hands of cleared industry under the National Industrial Security Program by providing professional risk management services.

Responsibilities

This is a temporary position NTE 2 years; may be extended.

As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for the following duties:
Serve as an Information Systems Security Professional (ISSP) within the Northern Region.
Perform cybersecurity activities including security control assessment in support of the Information Technology (IT) system authorization utilizing the Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) and exercise security oversight of cleared contractor information systems within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
Analyze, assess, evaluate, verify and validate contractor information system security plans, certification documentation for authorization and recommend the approval or disapproval to operate an Information System to the Regional Authorizing Official (RAO).
Develop and maintain security documentation and artifacts for Information Systems assigned and interface with industry security professionals to assess implemented security controls.
Enforce IT security control requirements, recommend configurations for information systems, telecommunications and networks and identify strategies to manage risk through mitigation of IT vulnerabilities, considering the rapidly evolving cybersecurity threat to IT systems.
Serve as spokesperson at conferences and training meetings to convey NISP and RMF implementation guidance and cybersecurity information relating to industrial security.
