DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Technology Coordinator in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, performs a wide variety of technical duties in support of educational technology applications; provides technical guidance and support, including diagnosis, repair, installation and maintenance for software, hardware, and the District networks.
QUALIFICATIONS: At least two years of college or vocational training with emphasis in computer technology (local area network, data processing, telecommunications). Knowledge of the principles and techniques applied to the operation of microcomputers, peripheral and microcomputer networks; microcomputer hardware and software; practices, procedures, documentation and causes of microcomputer user downtime; routine maintenance methods and procedures. Ability to analyze data and situations and develop effective solutions to system problems and perform repairs on microcomputer and related hardware; communicate effectively in both oral and written form and work independently. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates, monitors and resolves problems relating to classroom and office use of microcomputer networks (hardware, software and peripheral equipment), tests new software to ensure effective performance with hardware and be familiar with a variety of personal computer programs (database, spreadsheet, word processing and multimedia applications). Will participate in available workshops and training in order to meet new technology standards and performs other duties as required.
