Position Summary
Plan, execute, and finalize IT projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources for a cross-functional team and coordinating the efforts of team members, stakeholders, and third-party consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Assist in defining the project's objectives, oversee quality control, and effectively communicate throughout the project life cycle.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the project lifecycle for projects, including project plans, resource requirements, change management process, risk and issue management, key milestones, communication mechanisms, status reporting, and deliverables.
Develop, direct, and evaluate assigned projects.
Identify and coordinate technology project teams that require collaboration of multiple staff internally and externally.
Track project performance, budget, and schedule adherence.
Lead regularly scheduled team meetings to discuss progress, milestones, and risks that may cause a need to adjust project workloads for key resources.
Implement IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Take ownership and drive getting technical, business, and strategic project decisions made and documented.
Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in effectively addressing both internal and external challenges. Recognize tasks at hand and respond effectively in a timely manner.
Consult with management to modify the project and business processes to enhance delivery. Identify area for improvement in project and business service delivery.
Communicate the IT Project Management Process.
Develop trust-based relationships to resolve issues, develop strategies and solutions within the university community.
Assist IT Administrative Services and the university community as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or management of information systems required
PMP certification preferred
Knowledge of project management methodologies
Experience leading IT projects
Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Highly productive and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills needed
Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills
Ability to delegate effectively
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Cost and risk management skills
Proven organization and time management skills to keep projects on track and within budget
Experience in higher education preferred
Unusual Working Conditions
May need to work occasional evenings or weekends during time-sensitive project deadlines.
