Position Summary

To provide technical support for University spaces equipped with audio-visual technology equipment. This position assists the IT division's strategic efforts to maintain current technology solutions to meet the University's demands.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, test, operate, and dismantle audio-visual equipment used at the University
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams and system design drawings
  • Maintain in-class and portable equipment inventory and their respective scheduling
  • Maintain spare parts inventory
  • Assist with designing and maintaining automated and physical security systems for all audio-visual equipment
  • Provide for the ordering and distribution of audio-visual materials and equipment
  • Research faculty and student requests for materials and recommend equipment use
  • Provide technical training on equipment usage for the community
  • Prepare written specifications as it relates to any permanent equipment installation
  • Supervise work-study employees
  • Perform site surveys to develop client requirements and documentation of new or existing systems and building conditions
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, clients, and internal IT teams to execute AV system modifications
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required
  • Knowledge of telecommunications cabling infrastructure, Audio-Visual, and Physical Security Systems designs
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, email, project, management software
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Mature sense of responsibility and judgment
  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with a diverse community
  • Experience with audio-visual renovation or new audio-visual construction projects and repairs.
  • Technical audio-visual certifications beneficial

Unusual Working Conditions

  • Working after hours and over the weekend to complete assigned tasks is sometimes required.
